(Continued from the previous page) [The hollyhock leaves were presented] to Lord Gomi [red vertical mark], Lord Suō [red vertical mark], Lord Kyūi [red vertical mark], and Lord Enami [red vertical mark]—these were the recipients of the presentations. [Marginal note: Text damaged by insects and unclear.] Item: On the same day, it was decided that the o-fuda-ya (amulet hall) would be suitably established as a small timber structure (koya), and in order to set it up in the area where ■ had been laid and opened [marginal note in red: possibly the western bamboo grove], the laying of foundation stones was first ordered. Item: On the seventeenth day, the sky was overcast with occasional light rain. As today was the Day of the Monkey (saru) designated for the festival, each person was attending the shrine, and therefore no construction work took place. Item: On the eighteenth day, light rain fell throughout the day. As this was the day of the festival proper, all pending matters were set aside. Item: On the nineteenth day, the weather was clear. Lord Gomi [red vertical mark] made a formal visit (o-nobori). The shrine priests (shashi) and clan members (ujibito) also attended. On this occasion, petitions were submitted regarding the stone walls, the rōmon (two-storied gate), and various other matters recorded as "rakuto" (transcribed as in the original text). Item: On the same day, after the sacred doors (mito) of the Uematsuri (planting festival) were closed and stored away, the sacred treasures (shinpō) were subsequently retrieved from the temporary treasure storehouse (kariya) and transferred to the subsidiary shrine (gonsha). Iku and Mochiiku [red vertical mark], Shigeyori [red vertical mark], and among the clan members, the Governor of Mimasaka, the Governor of Iyo, and the Chief of the Imperial Kitchen [red vertical mark], along with several dozen others, formed a procession to carry and convey the sacred treasures. As the location of the temporary treasure storehouse was being needed for use as a backstage area (gakuya) for the musicians and performers, the master carpenters from Yamato and their sub-foremen worked in haste, and accordingly the treasures were relocated once again from the temporary storehouse. Item: On the night of the same day, a gathering (yoriai) was held at the Eidō (shadow/portrait hall). A document was submitted by the shrine community (shatō-shū), and after it was written out afresh, a conference was held with the shrine priests. For further details, see the day-by-day record (hinami-ki) in the "tome" (official register).
