思うに資生力は固体・液体の両方に普く備わっているが、特に多く血液の性質に賦与されて衆器官・諸液を化成する。霊液が神経に流通して全身を活動させ、男精が母体に入って孕胎させるのも、皆その力を血に資らないものはない。すなわち一滴の精液が、寂然として生命のない渾体（婦人卵巣中の卵液である。「不生」とは活動がないことをいう。絶えて生機がないというのではない）に感応して、これに成形力を賦与し、抱合して胚渾となる。その成形力はすなわち一滴の男精より受けることは、形貌・状態が所生の父に象似することがあることで証することができる。
肢節の頑麻不遂の症において、知覚・運動ともに廃するけれども、なお能く形体を保持するのは、血液の質の資生力がこれを滋養するからである。しかるに、あるいは緊縛し、あるいは動脈が石灰化するなどによって血の運行を遮絶すれば、知覚・運動があっても、その部分は必ず腐壊する。これは資生力が消亡して無機化学力の変化に帰するからである。故に資生力は知覚・運動（神経・脳髄および諸筋の力）に関わることなく、特に血液の質に宿るものとする。

Indeed, vital force is universally present in both solid and fluid substances, but it is particularly abundant in the blood's properties, where it forms the various organs and fluids. The spiritual fluid flows through the nerves to activate the entire body, and male essence enters the maternal body to cause pregnancy—all of these processes derive their power from the blood. That is, a single drop of seminal fluid responds to the quiescent, lifeless whole body (this refers to the ovular fluid in a woman's ovaries; "lifeless" means without activity, not that it is entirely devoid of vital mechanism) and endows it with morphogenic force, combining to form an embryonic whole. This morphogenic force is received from a single drop of male essence, which can be proven by the fact that physical appearance and characteristics often resemble those of the father.
In cases of paralysis and numbness of the limbs, although both sensation and movement are lost, the physical form can still be maintained because the vital force of the blood's properties nourishes it.
