年々困窮申ニ付神尾備前守支配之時分ゟ致訴訟候
其後拙者江加役被 仰付候而も度々相願候御領之儀ハ
毎度御手当私領之儀ハ尾張殿を初御手当之事ニ
候へ共此以後ハ左様二も難成候中山道之内十一宿
別而困窮申候是ハ何も山中谷合故介郷無之十
一宿之内ゟ互ニ申合人馬介合相勤候へ共一宿ニ
廿五疋廿五人さへ漸相勤候へハ他之宿へ之助難
成由申候依之久貝因幡守ヘ致相談宿之者召寄
致吟味候処右之通介郷無之付定之外難相勤由
申候就夫御老中江も得御内意候処木曽路御通之
御衆中江御内証可申旨ニ候御家之儀者御大身ニ候
へハ御家中御人多可有之候間一度ニ差つとひ
不申候様ニ段々可被遣候尤御通之自分も右人馬御考
通人馬可被仰付候此段急度申渡ニ而無之候各迄
内証申候尤御用番江御届ニも不及申候

時期に人馬に支障が生じないよう取り計らってきたが、中山道については
年々困窮を訴えており、神尾備前守が支配していた時分から訴訟を起こしている。
その後私（安藤筑後守）に加役が仰せ付けられてからも度々願い出ている。御領については
毎度お手当をいただき、私領については尾張殿をはじめとしてお手当をいただいて
いるが、今後はそのようにも難しくなっている。中山道のうち十一宿が
特に困窮している。これは皆山中や谷合いにあるため助郷がなく、十
一宿の間で互いに申し合わせて人馬の融通をし合って勤めているが、一宿で
二十五疋二十五人でさえやっと勤めている状況なので、他の宿への援助は難しい
と申している。そこで久貝因幡守と相談し、宿の者を召し寄せて
吟味したところ、右の通り助郷がないため定め以外は勤め難いと
申している。そこで御老中にも内意を得たところ、木曽路を通る
御衆中へは内々に申し伝えるべきとのことである。御家については御大身で
あるので御家中も人数が多いことであろうから、一度に集まって
通らないよう、段々に派遣されるべきである。もちろん御通行の際も右の人馬の御考慮を
いただき人馬を仰せ付けられるべきである。この件は急に申し渡すのではなく、各々まで
内々に申すのである。もちろん御用番への御届けも及ばない。
一 四月十八日、拝領した御馬を御用番秋元但馬守（喬朝）殿から使者によって
牽いて来させた。

are particularly impoverished. This is because they are all located in mountainous valleys with no助郷 (assisting villages), so the ten
or eleven stations coordinate among themselves to share people and horses for their duties, but since each station
can barely manage twenty-five horses and twenty-five people, assistance to other stations is difficult,
they say. Therefore, I consulted with Kyūgai Inaba-no-kami and summoned representatives from the post stations to
investigate the matter. As stated above, due to the lack of assisting villages, they cannot perform duties beyond what is prescribed,
they reported. When I sought the private opinion of the senior councilors on this matter, they said that this should be conveyed privately
to those traveling through the Kiso route. Since your house is of high rank,
your retainers must be numerous, so you should not all travel at once but
should dispatch them in stages. Of course, when you travel, you should also consider the aforementioned situation with people and horses
and make appropriate arrangements. This matter is not to be formally announced but
is to be communicated privately to each party. Of course, there is no need to report this to the duty officer.
