およそ懸（鞠庭）の中を通るのは、ただの時でも慎むべきことであり、まして会の時に中を通ってはならない。また軒の方も同様に通ってはならない。場に臨んでも貴人の御後ろや御前、またはしかるべき人の前後を軽々しく通ってはならない。通らなければどうしても叶わない時は、できるだけ遠くに避けて、垣の際や見物の人の側に寄って通るのである。また懸で鞠を追いかける時、

懸りの中間を過ぎてしまったならば、木の外へ出て回るべきである。木の外へ出る時は人と木との間を破ってはならない。ただし、その木の根元に立っている人がまだ立ち直らないうちに隙間があって空いているならば苦しくない。木と人とを分けて通ってはならないのである。人と人との間は、どんなに袖が触れる程度であっても構わない。向かいの木の根元に寄って、なお庭中を分けて、帰りがけに都合の良い鞠を蹴り返すこと。
