(Continued from the previous page) ...the matter of transferring [the estate] at the discretion of the principal — since the person in question is still living, I would ask that you make inquiries.
Item: The younger brother of Nuinodosuke Sueyuki, Denmatsu-dayū, passed away previously without any children. The portion that had been transferred to him was never returned to the main family whatsoever, and was instead transferred to Uemon-no-suke Suekaku. This too was not returned to the main family, at the discretion of the principal.
(Note: The following section was skipped in transcription due to rough/careless writing in the original)
Of the shogunal landholding certificates (goshuinjō) belonging to the Okamoto Miyauchi Shōyū household, fifty-eight koku constitute the portion for the Hō■dō (?) In, and the remaining forty-plus koku constitute the portion of Gobei. This person called Gobei was the male sibling of the mother of the current Buzen-no-kami Yasumoto, and was also the son-in-law (mukō) of Yasumochi. Because Gobei showed favor to a serving woman (shimojo) — that is, kept her as a mistress — a lawsuit arose claiming that [the serving woman] had put poison in a well, and the son-in-law Gobei was executed by crucifixion (haritsuke) and sent up [to the capital]. His entire estate was subsequently granted to Miyauchi Shōyū, and it is said that it was later entered into the shogunal landholding certificate and thus acquired. For this reason, of the more than 2,500 koku covered by the shrine community's (shachū) shogunal landholding certificates, over forty koku are included [from this source].
The residential property currently occupied by Uemon-no-jō Yasunari was also originally in Gobei's possession. In the deed for the land portion held by Ujikane, it is recorded that to the west is noted as either Gobei's eboshina (the formal name used in one's youth or a courtesy name) or a name he used in his younger years.
