Today at noon, a meeting was held at my residence. The matter of presenting sea bream (tai) was announced, along with other matters. There may also have been discussion of the matter of Ho Kanekane's petition. 19th Day: Snow fell intermittently. 20th Day: Served as the collection and lodging host for the household (of the Kamigamo Shrine clergy). The lower-ranked shrine servants (geshu) from Edo—Ikihisa, Narihisa, and Kubomori—returned to Kyoto and to their homes. As a result, a meeting was held in the evening. The people of Kifunedani had returned to Kyoto on the 17th of the same month, it is said. On the 28th of last month, the aforementioned three individuals ascended to the castle (in Edo) to present their respects, and on the 10th of the 11th month, they were granted leave to return. Each received one set of clothing (gofuku) as a gift. During the Kan'ei era, Matsutakahisa, Zassho Genkyu, and Hoi (three individuals) had each received one set of clothing. From Shimogamo (Shimogamo Shrine), again this time one person, Hironiwa Shima, was sent, and he too received one set of clothing. It is said that the Commissioner of Temples and Shrines, Lord Itakura Iwami-no-kami, acted as the intermediary. Three hundred monme each were privately provided from within the shrine as preparation expenses—a most joyous occasion. Since it was declared that the greeting ceremony should be conducted as a group, when an individual greeting was requested, the first representatives of Kamo to offer their respects were Ukyo Gondaifu and Kurando-no-jo. Next came the representative of Shimogamo, so Shima stepped forward. When Kifune Shrine was called third, the representative of Sakyo…
