Around midday, the two brothers of the Ya-toneri finally arrived, prepared the offerings (goryō), and around the Hour of the Rooster (approximately 2 p.m.) attempted to attend to their duties. They made three announcements, but only once did they proceed to the inner sanctuary (naijin) offerings at the御先 (misaki), then returned to the Niedo (offering hall) and carried out the outer sanctuary (gejin) offerings. For the outer sanctuary offerings of the Seven Shrines, they asked the toneri to make up the shortfall. Around the Hour of the Sheep (approximately 2 p.m.), the shrine doors were opened and the proceedings at the government hall were completed, by which time it had become the latter part of the Hour of the Monkey (approximately 5 p.m.).
Not a single musician (gakunin) attended. Regarding those who attended as deputies for the shrine officials: deputy for the Shingu Hafuri — [name missing] Hisa; deputy for the Ōta Negi — his son Naiki Suetsugu (季真); deputy for the Sawada Hafuri — his son Sawada Kageyu Kanenabu (兼斉); deputy for the Kataoka Negi — Kumahito; and Azukari Kanetsugu handled the sacred keys (mikagi).
Since it was a temporary shrine (kariden), the ordinary small iron key was used. It was handed over to the hafuri party in front of the Chinese-style doors (karado). As the flood prevented attendance at the Ujigami Shrine, the return rites were conducted at the Nara Shrine instead. Furthermore, the hafuri party's offerings — one offering of goryō-hoko (御鉾御料), one of sōmen noodles, and one of accompanying soup — totaling three trays, were carried by the toneri as far as the sukiro (open corridor), and from the corridor in front of the Sugio Shrine, the shoshi-bettō received and presented them. This was because the area beyond the village trees (muraki) in front of the main shrine was blocked. The same applied to the shoots of iris (hiyofuki-gusa, 射干) from the last day of the previous month. The shrine officials also recited their norito (ritual prayers) from the sukiro, facing northwest.
Kanetsugu noted: Since the temporary shrine (gonsha) was newly constructed, the old locks and keys are in the keeping of the Azukari-kane.
