(Continued from previous page) Regarding the matter of the eburi (a type of rake/leveling tool wood) alone, it was determined that it should be sent. 〇 A resident of Ichiharano has submitted a request to take pine branches from the sacred mountain (Kamiyama) and wishes to cultivate various places along the Kifune road. It was discussed whether, in place of sending the mountain patrol officers (yamamawari-shū) under a magistrate, a written notice (issatsu) might suffice. 〇 The litigation (kuji) concerning the bamboo grove is to be adjudicated on the twelfth day. On the eighth day, rain fell. The shrine priest (hafuri) and Sakunao of the tutelary deity shrine came and opened the previously established temporary shrine hall (kariden) to inspect the sacred treasures (go-shinhō). In the first karabitsu (lacquered chest) were found: a nōshi court robe [white ground with kū pattern and hollyhock-arabesque design (aoi karakusa), lined with medium-weight habutae silk], a padded garment of twill weave (aya-ji), white on both front and back, the front featuring the hollyhock-arabesque design. The lined robe (awase) was similarly fashioned. The sashinuki (formal trailing trousers) had a light purple ground with hollyhock-roundel (aoi maru) pattern on the front, and light yellow (asagi) on the lining. One檜 fan (hi-ōgi), measuring one shaku and one bu in length, one sun and one bu in width at the top, as measured with a fabric ruler. In the first karabitsu there was also: a crown [the hanging cord (kake-o) being of purple Chinese-style twisted braid (karauchi), approximately four shaku in length; the roundness approximately five bu, it is said], one pair of court shoes (o-kutsu), a sake cup with its stand (the stand being silver-plated, of the horse-head type [batō-dai]), a dining utensil stand of the same type, as in the main shrine. A tea bowl, also on a stand, silver-plated. The aforementioned textiles showed not the slightest change in color, despite having passed through fifty-two years of time.
