前守殿中井主水御上り之由申来候依之掃

（前頁より続き）去る九日には、講所（こうしょ）・鎮旦所（ちんたんしょ）の石築きがあった。
十二日 天晴れ。昨日の御礼として、明日、御見分（おみわけ）のために越前守殿（えちぜんのかみどの）・中井主水（なかいもんど）がお上りになるとの知らせが来た。それにより、掃除講（そうじこう）の衆が夜中に社頭（しゃとう）を掃除し、御園橋（みそのはし）を掛け、道を作った。堀川（ほりかわ）については、矢刀祢方（やとねがた）まで申し遣わしたところ、橋を掛けるとのこと。もし橋を掛けることが叶わなければ、湯手（ゆで）を切り落とし、水を干上がらせよと申し遣わされた。
今日、寄会（よりあい）があったが、私は参加しなかった。
十三日 天晴れ。戸田越後守忠継殿（とだえちごのかみただつぐどの）・蒔田安芸守殿（まきたあきのかみどの）、また横目衆（よこめしゅう）か、その外に二人、中井主水（なかいもんど）を召し連れて、御造営（ごぞうえい）の御見分のために、下鴨（しもがも）、次いで当社をことごとく御見廻り（おみまわり）になった。
その様子は、まず両雑掌（りょうぞうしょう）が御泥池辺（おどろいけあたり）まで出迎えに出て、先に立って案内した。岡本門（おかもともん）の外では、肩衣袴（かたぎぬはかま）の者七、八人が出迎えのために出向いた。大田社（おおたしゃ）では両官（りょうかん）の外二、三人が太田の辺りにて待ち受けた。次いで山本町（やまもとちょう）より神宮寺（じんぐうじ）へお出ましになり、神主以下は神宮寺の射場（いば）の尾辺（おあたり）にて待ち受け、観音（かんのん）の階（きざはし）を上って内を御〔見分になった〕。

(Continued from previous page) On the 9th of last month, there was stone-laying work at the Kōsho (lecture hall) and the Chintanjo (a ritual purification hall).
12th day: Clear weather. Word arrived that, as a mark of gratitude for yesterday's ceremony, Lord Echizen-no-kami and Nakai Mondo would be coming up [to the shrine] the next day for an inspection (o-miwake). In response, the members of the Cleaning Confraternity (Sōji-kō) cleaned the shrine precincts through the night, laid the Misono Bridge, and constructed a road. Regarding the Horikawa area, word was sent as far as the Yatone party, and the reply was that a bridge would be laid. Instructions were sent that if it proved impossible to lay a bridge, the water channels should be cut off and the water allowed to dry up.
Today there was a meeting (yoriai), but I did not attend.
13th day: Clear weather. Lord Toda Echigo-no-kami Tadatsugu, Lord Makita Aki-no-kami, as well as members of the Inspector corps (yokome-shū)—or perhaps others, two additional persons—accompanied by Nakai Mondo, came to conduct an inspection of the construction works (go-zōei), making a thorough tour of Shimogamo Shrine and then of this shrine.
The manner of their reception was as follows: first, the two Zasshō (administrative officers) went out to meet them at the area of Odoro Pond (o-doro-ike) and led them forward. Outside the Okamoto Gate, seven or eight persons dressed in formal sleeveless jackets and hakama (katagimu-hakama) went out to receive them. At Ōta Shrine, two or three persons beyond the two senior officials (ryōkan) waited in the vicinity of Ōta. Next, the party proceeded from Yamamoto-chō to the Jingūji (shrine temple), where the head priest and others waited at the area near the archery range (iba) of the Jingūji. They ascended the steps of the Kannon hall and inspected the interior—
