次宣旨一巻コリノ蓋ニ入シ後職久請取召
連候布衣ノ者ニコリヲモタセ宣旨乍立披見

此義片岡殿先ニスベキ事也又於橋殿而神主ノ
跡ニ可請取儀也トソ然共帰り申遅成儀也
内々又自伝奏片岡社ヲ先ニ仕タル例
又貴布祢ヲ先ニ仕タル例共考持参申
セト有之而書付被上也依之今度貴布祢奥
社ハ改造御宮殿也今日先ニ仕候也是仰ニよつて也

次に、宣旨一巻を「こり（行李）」の蓋に入れた後、〔片岡の〕祝職（はふりしょく）就久（しゅっきゅう）が受け取り、召し連れ候布衣（ほうい）の者に行李を持たせ、〔就久は〕宣旨を立ちながら披見（ひけん）する。
（割書：風が吹いて見にくし。古実（こじつ）を知らぬ故、笑止（しょうし）なり。）
〔披見し終わって〕元のように巻いて布衣の者に持たせ、〔それまで〕懐中していた笏（しゃく）を取り出し、また互いに一揖（いちゆう）する。
次に、片岡仮殿（かたおかかりどの）の御前に〔宣旨を〕備え進ずる。備え置いてから立ち帰り、橋殿（はしどの）の軒下を西へ歩み向かい、宣旨使と一揖（いちゆう）する。次に宣旨使も一揖する。
次に、宣旨使は保守（ほしゅ）・信顕（のぶあき）の両人と同道して庁屋（ちょうや）の座に着く。就久は神前に進め覧（らん）せし宣旨を撤（てつ）して、社頭直会所（しゃとうなおらいしょ）の御札屋（おふだや）にて、社司（しゃし）・氏人（うじびと）が披見（ひけん）する。
〔割書：〕
この儀（ぎ）、片岡殿（かたおかどの）を先にすべき事なり。また橋殿（はしどの）にて神主の跡（あと）に請け取るべき儀なりとぞ。然れども、帰り申すが遅くなる儀なり。内々また伝奏（でんそう）より、片岡社を先に仕（つかまつ）りたる例（れい）、また貴布祢（きふね）を先に仕りたる例ども、考え持参し申せとあり、而して書付（かきつけ）が上（たてまつ）られたり。これにより、今度（このたび）、貴布祢奥社（きふねおくしゃ）は改造（かいぞう）の御宮殿（ごみやでん）なり。今日〔貴布祢を〕先に仕り候なり。これ、仰せによってなり。

[Continued from the previous page: The reception of the imperial decree at Kataoka Shrine]
Next, after placing one scroll of the imperial decree (senjī) into the lid of a traveling basket (kori), the ritual priest (hafuri-shoku) Shukkyū received it, had the attendant in plain silk robes (hōi) carry the basket, and [Shukkyū] inspected (hiken) the decree while standing.
(Marginal note: The wind was blowing and made it difficult to read. Not knowing the proper ancient precedent [for how to handle this], it was quite a sorry sight.)
After inspecting [the decree], he re-rolled it as before, had the attendant in hōi carry it, took out the ceremonial baton (shaku) he had been keeping in his breast fold, and once again both parties bowed simultaneously (ichiyu).
Next, [the decree] was offered and presented before the temporary shrine hall (kari-dono) of Kataoka. After placing it there, [Shukkyū] turned and walked back westward along the eave of the bridge hall (hashidono), faced the imperial decree messenger (senjī-tsukai), and bowed once. The imperial decree messenger then returned the bow.
Next, the decree messenger, accompanied by Hoshu and Nobuaki, took their seats in the office chamber (chōya). Shukkyū retrieved (tetsu) the decree that had been presented and inspected before the deity, and at the ofuda-ya (御札屋, the talisman house) of the post-ceremony banquet hall (naoraisho) at the shrine precinct, the shrine officials (shashi) and clan members (ujibito) inspected it.
[Marginal annotation:]
Properly speaking, Kataoka Shrine should have been attended to first in this ceremony. Furthermore, [the decree] should have been received by the chief priest (kannushi) at the bridge hall (hashidono). However, returning [to attend to this] would cause undue delay. Privately, an instruction came from the Transmission Official (Tensō) to consider past precedents — both those in which Kataoka Shrine was attended to first, and those in which Kifune Shrine was attended to first — and to compile and submit a written report. Accordingly, a written memorandum was submitted [to the authorities]. Based on this, on the present occasion, the inner shrine of Kifune (Kifune Oku-sha) being a newly reconstructed shrine building, Kifune was attended to first today. This was done in accordance with the instruction [from above].
