Next, regarding the dispute among Kogen (a senior official), Jimbei of Shimogamo, and Shōzaburō, it was decided that Seizaemon and Sukezaburō, the intermediaries (mōshitsugi), would be summoned the following evening and given instructions.
29th Day: Regarding the claims made by Chikurin-in ■ and Uma-no-suke Seishō, and in accordance with an instruction from the authorities (kōgi) to deliberate on the matter privately within the shrine community, today six individuals — Mori Ukyō, Tajima, Bichū, Daizen, Shikibu-no-jō, and Kura-no-suke — came to this place and conveyed the conclusions of the shrine community's deliberations. In the oral statement, it was noted that the matter had previously been mediated and resolved by four persons: Mozusuke, Shimotsuke-no-kami, Nuinodono□, and Kazue-no-kami. On that basis, it was determined to be essential that the same approach be taken this time as well — namely, that from Chikurin-in ■, a kanbō-jō (a document authorizing temple management) bearing the joint signatures (kakuhan) of those affiliated with the disciple in question be presented to the Seishō side, and in return, Seishō would issue a document certifying Chikurin-in's status as head priest (住持), with the two parties exchanging these documents to resolve the matter peacefully. However, the responses of both parties were not heard (at that time), and the session ended without conclusion.
Last Day of the Month (Misoka): Early in the morning, a gathering of both elder and younger members was held. It had been planned for today that the pine leaves (matsuba) from the sacred mountain (Kamiyama) would be distributed among 161 persons at 37 bundles each; however, due to rainy weather, this was postponed to the following day.
