[Continued from previous page] Kombu seaweed, sea bream, and dried squid (するめ). To the Geki (外記, a court secretary) and the Kanmu (官務, a court official): one silver coin equivalent to the horse fee (馬代) in lieu of a ceremonial sword (御太刀). The 19th Day: Today, Nishiike Hachinojō and Kumasuke were caught taking birds within the shrine precincts and were placed in the custody of the shrine. Since they submitted a private apology (internal plea of contrition), a written notice (切紙) arrived stating that they were to be brought before the authorities on the 21st. The 20th Day: During this period of ritual seclusion (参籠), all of the small subsidiary shrines (小社) quietly underwent the formal enshrinement transfer (正遷宮) ceremony. The 21st Day: The aforementioned two individuals (Hachinojō and Kumasuke) were brought before the shogunate by Mori Ukyō and Tsushima no Kami. Since they offered their apologies, the matter was settled. However, upon closer inspection, it was noted that Kumasuke had a forelock (前髪) the other day but does not today — it is incomprehensible (and improper) that a person held in custody as an offender should have undergone the coming-of-age ceremony (元服). [Right folio, marginal note] On the nights of the 18th, 20th, and 21st — these three nights — all of the Kibune small subsidiary shrines (木船小社) underwent the formal enshrinement transfer ceremony. The head priest Yasu- (name partly unclear) served as the officiant of the transfer (遷師). This matter was again reported to the Lord of Echizen (越前殿). ◦ Following that, the two individuals were again released into custody and returned home. It is said that Hachinojō has recently entered into service (奉公). This too is an act of contempt toward the shogunate. Today, a summons again came from the Tenso (伝奏, court liaison), and Kazue and Kurando no Gonnosuke attended. Regarding the sacred relics (舎利), they were instructed that all matters should be conducted as they were during the Kan'ei era (寛永, 1624–1644). The 22nd Day: At Kifune Shrine, a newly prepared wooden shelter (木屋) and a privy (雪隠) made of cedar boughs (杉葉) were constructed. These were for the Tenso and the magistrates (奉行衆). They were also built at the inner shrine (奥社). The 23rd Day: Clear skies. The formal enshrinement transfer ceremony (正遷宮) at Kifune Shrine took place at the Hour of the Boar (亥の刻, approximately 10 p.m.). The Negi (祢宜, senior priest) Narihisa officiated the transfer ceremony; the head priest took his seat. Five ujibito (氏人, clan shrine attendants) participated. [Left folio, marginal note] The sacred offerings (御料) for the inner and outer sanctuaries of the subsidiary shrines (端社), and only the outer sanctuary offerings for the inner shrine (奥社). Inner shrine portion: 5 to 2 shō. This is a disbursement (下行) of 3 gō. It is a meal of confections (菓物). Subsidiary shrines (端社): 3 to 6 shō — disbursement as substitute for the inner sanctuary offerings. The remaining seven shrines are the same. The allocation (割付) is as follows: 4 gō □□ 1 shō ■ 1 shō ■ (standing measure) 2 shō earthenware 8 shō ■ 5 shō 1 gō per named official 4 shō 5 gō [unclear shrine name, possibly Yatō-sha]
