[Continued from the previous page — continuation of the left folio marginal note] Three gō of sake; five gō for the post-ceremony (後居, those remaining after). However, this refers to the medium flask (中缶, chūkan). This should be inquired about again at a later occasion. White curtains (幕) are hung in layers; one shrine dedicated to the ox (牛社), drawn in a straight line from the North Hermitage (北庵) to the southern end of the shrine maidens' building (巫女屋). The shogunate's subordinate magistrates (下奉行), two mounted inspectors (与力), ten foot inspectors (同心), and miscellaneous attendants (雑色) are stationed at both sides of the gate. Because of rainy weather, board enclosures and roofs of cedar boughs (杉葉) are erected. The inner shrine (奥社) is arranged in the same manner. The curtained enclosure (幄屋) of the Benden (弁殿, the noble official in charge of ceremonial affairs) is set up lengthwise in the direction of the shrine maidens' building, bounded by the southeastern corner pillar of the subsidiary shrine's worship hall (端社拝殿). Within this curtained enclosure, the following persons take their seats: Seikanji Ben, Ki, Jō, Shi, Shishō (史生, junior clerks), and the Vice Envoy (副使). The Tenso (伝奏, imperial court liaison), Middle Counselor (中納言) Kanzanji, acting as Hōchō (方長, the presiding official), enters the Fudōdō (不動堂, Hall of Fudō Myōō) and awaits the transfer of the divine spirit (遷御). After the ceremony is concluded, in front of the main hall (正殿), on the sand, the Kamon-ryō (掃部寮, the Bureau of Cleaning and Furnishings) comes and lays down rush matting (薦, komo) folded in three, with a half-mat thin bordered mat (薄縁, usube) placed on top. In front (at the front), the Tonomoiryō (主殿寮, Bureau of Palace Upkeep) sets up the various lamp stands and lights them. Lord Hōchō (方長卿) makes his approach to the shrine (wearing shallow court shoes, 浅沓). First, the imperial proclamation (宣命, in yellow paper) is solemnly read aloud. When the reading is finished, Narihisa (就久) approaches from the side and receives the proclamation. Next, the Negi (祢宜) Narihisa serves as the intermediary for the presentation of votive offerings (奉幣). Next, the Benden (弁殿) presents the votive offerings. Next, the official (官) — the Lord of Karasuhashi Shikibu no Shōyū (唐橋式部少輔殿) — presents the votive offerings. The head priest Yasuyoshi (保可) takes his seat facing right before the deity (using one round rush cushion, 円座). The seats of the Negi, the Hafuri (祝, a lower-ranking priest), the ujibito (氏人, clan attendants), and the various officials are each provided with one round rush cushion, placed in front of the guard post (番所) of those from the valley (谷の者), below the right hanging (右かけ) on the east side. All other visiting shrine administrators (社司) and ujibito are stationed outside the curtains in the space between the main shrine and the auxiliary shrine (権殿).
