However, since the great curtained enclosure (大幄, ō-aku) is drawn in a straight line from the southeastern corner pillar of the worship hall (拝殿) to the northern edge (北廉) of the Ushi Ichisha (牛一社, the Ox Shrine), each person is seated below the stone platform (石壇). Furthermore, the shogunate's mounted inspectors (与力) and foot inspectors (同心) are positioned within the riding grounds (馬場), in the space between the Nagayuka Gate (長床門) and the adjacent gate. ◦ On this occasion, because the head priest (神主) had forgotten (to arrange for proper vestments), robes (袍, hō) of court costume had been woven in large quantity (in preparation), but (instead of using them for that purpose), the summer and winter robes were today presented as offerings to the Kibune Shrine (貴布祢社). The head priest's own personal wear is limited to the informal court robe (直衣, nōshi) only. Tonight, at the Kibune Shrine (貴布祢社), the Hōchō (方長), Ki (煕), Jō (定), the Geki (外記, secretary of the Daijōkan), and the Kanmu (官務, administrator) arrive at the Fudōdō (不動堂, Hall of Fudō Myōō). Fifty red bean rice cakes (餡餅) are presented to the shrine, along with cedar-wood boxes (杉折, sugiori) filled with an assortment of items placed in the upper tier (上重), as an offering to the shrine. One barrel of five-tō capacity (五斗樽) [is also presented]. The same applies to the mounted inspectors (与力衆) of the warrior houses (武家). To the various officials and foot inspectors (同心衆), sticky rice dumplings (粽, chimaki) are distributed. The Tani residence (谷家) serves as the lodging. This was arranged privately and on the instructions of this shrine. [A diagram is present on this page.]
