上田の城に向かう。真田は大いに喜び、越後の勢に上田の城を守らせ、自身は九千の兵を率いて小野山に陣を取り、あちこちに兵を配置して敵を待った。徳川殿の軍勢は利を得ずして、ついに引き返したので、越後の勢も帰った。同じ年の冬、木村がまた関白の使者として越後国に行き、景勝をはじめとして一門の侍大将等に物を与えたことは盛大であった。これは両家が親交を結んだ祝いの使者であると聞こえた。この年、景勝は杉原、新潟、沼垂等の城々を攻め落とした《割書：これらはすべて柴田（勝家）の与党の城である》。明けて天正十四年、関白に参上すべしと聞こえたので、秀吉は大いに悦んで、また木村を使者として色々な物を送り給うた。

Kagekatsu departed from Echigo on the 11th day of the fifth month, accompanied by Kimura. Ishida (Mitsunari), Masuda (Nagamori), and Otani (Yoshitsugu) went down the Hokuriku road making preparations here and there. On the 27th of the same month, Kagekatsu entered the capital.
