び而して齢二十歳にして「アフリカ」洲の兵籍に入る。○「カビール族」及び他の敵対的なる種族に向けて六年間連続したる戦争の後「バゼーヌ」は命を奉じて外国の兵隊に入る。而して騒乱を鎮圧すべく一千八百三十七年其地へ発足せり。○一千八百三十九年「ミリアナ」及び「モロッコ」に向う所の征討に連なり「アルジェリア」に行き数年間「アラビア」国の小部なる「トレムセン」の奉行となれり。○「クリミア」戦争中其処置の武勇と才能の如きは自ら抜んでたるものと思へり。

and at the age of twenty, he entered the military service in "Africa." ○After six years of continuous warfare against the "Kabyles" and other hostile tribes, "Bazaine" received orders to join foreign troops. He departed for that region in 1837 to suppress the disturbances. ○In 1839, he joined the expedition directed toward "Miliana" and "Morocco," went to "Algeria," and for several years became the administrator of "Tlemcen," a small region in "Arabia." ○During the "Crimean" War, his military prowess and abilities in handling affairs seemed to distinguish him above others.
