一 先年貴布祢山之義市原野と出入之時市原野御奉
行木下藤吉郎殿被成候時我々一分ニ従先規も市原
野も貴布祢も一職進退之由申入候へは早速被聞召
分候間此砌藤吉殿へ被仰入候て可然之由我々申候得は
先年御負被成候程ニ只今申たり共中〳〵悪候はん由
二三人被仰候間不及是非余り此負外聞悪候間重

（前頁より続き）陣立てに際して、明智殿の御陣でございましたので、当所（上賀茂社）からも諸陣へのご挨拶回りを我々にご兼頼（かねよ）りになりましたので、「特別に最前のご縁もありますし」とのことでご申し越しでしたので、是非もなく同心し、民部少輔殿と同道して橋本（淀川の橋本）近くまで参りましたところ、堤の道が通行止めとなっており、昼夜通行できないため、八幡・奈良ヶ峠を通り、大和路へ迂回して河内へ出て、諸陣へのご挨拶等を仕り、帰りには又道が通行止めとなっておりましたので、舟坂越えで奈良・西京（太秦・西京極あたり）へ出て、山城へ通り帰参いたしました。明智殿のご帰陣をお待ち申し上げましたが、（なかなか）延び延びになりました。
一、先年、貴布祢山の件について市原野（いちはらの）との争いがあった時、市原野の御奉行が木下藤吉郎殿でいらっしゃった際、我々の立場として、「先例からも市原野も貴布祢も一職（一元的）に進退するものである」と申し入れましたところ、早速ご理解いただきましたので、「この機会に藤吉（郎）殿へ申し入れればよいでしょう」と我々が申しましたところ、「先年負けを取られた程ですから、今さら申しても容易には受け入れてもらえないでしょう」と二三人がおっしゃいましたので、已む無く「あまりにもこの負けは外聞が悪いので、重ねて賀茂のために悪しくは申し上げないつもりです。我々の一存で申し上げます」と強く申しましたところ、「それでは申してみよ」と各々が同意されましたので、我々がお引き受け申し上げて、雑掌・伊予守殿と同道し、「先例通りに進退することに紛れもないところ、村井殿が一方的に二瀬側へお申し付けになりました。今や、こちら様（藤吉郎殿）のところへ二瀬の者共が参るだろうとの風聞がございますので、どうかお受け取りなさいませんように」とお願い申し上げましたところ、「以前は自分の知るところではございましたが、昔から当社が一職に進退するとのことは貴所がおっしゃっており、承知しておりました。今、誰々が来て申し上げてもご同意はなさらないでしょう」とおっしゃってくださいました。恐れ入って申し上げ、「それでは、ついでのことに御折紙（おりがみ）一筆をお願い申し上げます」と申しましたところ、「生熊（いくま）よ、折紙を書け」とおっしゃって、お文（ふみ）は立ちながら御

(Continuing from previous page) As the deployment of forces involved Lord Akechi's encampment, our shrine (Upper Kamo Shrine) was asked to make courtesy visits to the various encampments on our behalf, and it was conveyed to us that "there is a particularly close bond from before." Having no choice but to comply, we agreed and, traveling together with Lord Minbu-no-Shōyu, we proceeded near Hashimoto (on the Yodo River). However, the road along the embankment was blocked and there was no passage day or night; therefore, we took the route through Yawata and Naragatōge Pass, detoured along the Yamato Road, came out into Kawachi, and made the courtesy visits to the various encampments. On the return journey, the road was again closed, so we crossed via Funasaka Pass, came out to Nara and Nishikyō (around Uzumasa/Nishikyōgoku), passed through Yamashiro, and returned. We awaited Lord Akechi's return to camp, but it was continually delayed.
Item: In an earlier year, when there was a dispute concerning Kifune Mountain with Ichiharано (Ichihara field), and Lord Kinoshita Tōkichirō was serving as the magistrate overseeing Icharano, we submitted on our own behalf that "according to precedent, both Ichihara and Kifune should be administered under unified jurisdiction." This was promptly understood and accepted. We then suggested, "This is a good opportunity to submit a request to Lord Tōkichi (Tōkichirō)," but two or three people objected, saying, "Since we were ruled against in a prior year, even if we raise the matter now, it will hardly be accepted." Having no alternative, we pressed firmly, saying, "The outcome of that loss reflects badly on our public reputation, and we have no intention of speaking ill on behalf of Kamo again. We will speak on our own responsibility." When they said, "Very well then, go ahead," and everyone agreed, we accepted the responsibility and, accompanied by the shrine administrator (雑掌) and Lord Iyo-no-kami, stated: "It is well established by precedent that this matter falls under our unified jurisdiction; yet Lord Murai ruled one-sidedly in favor of Futase. We have now heard rumors that the people of Futase intend to come before you, so we humbly request that you decline to receive them." To this, he replied: "This was previously within my knowledge, and I had already heard from you that this shrine has administered these matters under unified jurisdiction since ancient times. No matter who comes now and presents a claim, I shall not consent to it."
