*(Continued from previous page)* [The parties concerned] are hereby ordered to present their appeals at that time. This document is issued accordingly. Twenty-second day of the seventh month, Eiroku 6 (1563) — Nagaaki [seal] Nagataka [seal] To all in the village of Ichihara (Ichihara-sato-chū) --- **Document bearing a seal, Genki 2 (1571)** Concerning the mountain in Kibune Valley (Kibune-dani), bounded by the Minami-Kajitori Myōjin [shrine]: Since Eiroku 6 (1563), the peasants of Ichiharano have devised new and unauthorized arrangements (shingi) with the intent of misappropriating [said land]. Upon receiving this complaint — with the peasants likewise putting forward their own claims and the matter escalating into dispute and debate — a thorough and exhaustive inquiry was conducted into the very depths of the matter. Neighboring opinions were sought, the views of the secretarial office (yūhitsu-kata) were consulted, and documents pertaining to places in the surrounding area were examined. As a result, it is clear that [this land] falls within the domain of Kamo Shrine; even if there be [claims of] ordinary dues and customary access (hon'yaku sue-tsū), ultimate authority (shinsshi) rests with the original proprietor (honjō). In short, the matter of adjustment and disposition at the will of the lord proprietor is a principle that holds universally, past and present (kokon-tsūhō). Having each rendered their judgment (hyōban) and reported accordingly (gōnjō), [the following is issued:] *[Text continues on the following page.]*
