人足1人、馬6疋を用意されたし。江戸より中山道・木曽街道筋、山城国淀より西国街道、赤間関、豊前・豊後・日向・大隅・薩摩・肥後の海辺沿岸及び同所の島々、石見、尾張、三河、甲州街道を往復にて測量のご用のため、天文方・高橋作左衛門の手附（助手）である伊能勘ヶ由、同手伝勤方（補助役）の坂部貞兵衛、同下役の下河辺政五郎・青木勝次郎・永井要助が通行する。これにつき、人足1人・馬2疋を勘ヶ由に、馬1疋ずつを貞兵衛・政五郎・勝次郎・要助にそれぞれ渡すべきものなり。

Prepare one porter and six horses. For the purpose of conducting a surveying mission traveling from Edo along the Nakasendo and Kiso Highway, then from Yodo in Yamashiro Province along the Saigoku Highway, through Akamagaseki, the coastal areas of Buzen, Bungo, Hyuga, Osumi, Satsuma, and Higo provinces, and the islands in those areas, as well as Iwami, Owari, Mikawa, and the Koshu Highway (both outward and return journeys), the following personnel will be passing through: Ino Kankeyū, assistant (tezuke) to Takahashi Sakuzaemon of the Astronomical Bureau (Tenmonkata); Sakabe Teihei, serving as assistant helper (tetsudai kinkata); and subordinate officials (shitayaku) Shimokōbe Masagorō, Aoki Katsujirō, and Nagai Yōsuke. Accordingly, one porter and two horses are to be provided to Kankeyū, and one horse each to Teihei, Masagorō, Katsujirō, and Yōsuke.
