現代語訳
伊能勘解由（忠敬）が測量の公用で、中山道・木曽街道筋、山城国淀から西国街道、赤間関、豊前、豊後、日向、大隅、薩摩、肥後の海辺回浦および同地の島々、石見、尾張、三河、甲州街道を往復する際、道中でも測量を行う予定である。その際、事前に支障のないよう取り計らうこと。特に地方で通行が困難な場所については、その場所から船を出して案内し、支障のないよう取り計らうべきである。

Inō Kangeyu (Tadataka) will be conducting surveying work for official purposes along the Nakasendō and Kisokaidō routes, from Yodo in Yamashiro Province via the Saikokukaidō to Shimonoseki, and through Buzen, Bungo, Hyūga, Ōsumi, Satsuma, the coastal areas and islands of Higo, as well as Iwami, Owari, Mikawa, and the Kōshūkaidō, traveling both ways. During this journey, surveying work will also be conducted along the route. Therefore, arrangements should be made in advance to ensure there are no obstacles. Particularly in local areas where passage is difficult, boats should be provided from those locations with guides to ensure smooth passage.
