時は建保元年五月上旬、和田の一門は讒言者のために汚名を被り、やむを得ず御所方の軍勢を引き受けて防戦する。
和田の三男小林の朝比奈が鉄棒を振り回し、大勢に割って入ったのを幸いに討ち取ろうとしたが、寄せ手が苦戦して引き退く。

Date no Kagenobu resolves to destroy the Wada clan.

Strike them down!
This was in early May of the first year of Kenpō era. The Wada clan, having been slandered by false accusers, reluctantly took up arms to defend themselves against the shogunal forces.
Wada's third son, Asahina of Kobayashi, wielded his iron club and charged into the large enemy force. Though they tried to take advantage of this to strike him down, the attacking forces struggled and retreated.
