現代語訳
朝比奈は父義盛に先立たれて、涙に暮れて無念がっているところへ、荒井の藤太が義盛の死に首を打ち取ろうと大勢を引き連してやって来た。しかし朝比奈に殺される。
「ああ苦しや、苦しや」

「鉄の棒にて殴り殺したぞ」

小林の朝比奈は戦で疲れ果てて、とある酒屋に立ち寄り、大坂月（酒の銘柄）にて四、五杯ひっかける。
「ああ美味い、美味い」
酒屋の亭主「こわごわと酒を注ぐ。さても君の良い飲みっぷりかな」
「酔いが回っておられますな。私も痛みもろはく者でございます」

Asahina, having lost his father Yoshimori, was weeping in grief and resentment when Arai no Tōta came with a large force, intending to take Yoshimori's head as proof of his death. However, he was killed by Asahina.
"Ah, how painful, how painful!"

Kobayashi no Asahina, exhausted from battle, stopped at a certain sake shop and had four or five cups of Ōsaka-tsuki (a brand of sake).
"Ah, delicious, delicious!"
The sake shop owner: "Nervously pouring sake. What fine drinking you display, sir!"
"You seem quite intoxicated. I too am a fellow who suffers pain, you know."
