When Jōkein-in [Tsunayoshi] received the proclamation as Shogun, he was appointed as a companion minor captain (shōshō). Most importantly, at the lowest seat, Tsunamasa's wife was also commanded to present gifts to the Shogun and the Shogun's wife according to previous precedent. However, due to Tsunamasa falling ill, the ancestral domain was confiscated, and at that time, 250,000 koku out of the total was granted to Hyōbu-no-taifu. Because of the noble lineage of the family, it was commanded through kind directive from above that Fukui Castle would remain under their custody unchanged from previous generations. Thereafter, on the 5th day of the 12th month of Genroku 9 (1696), he was appointed as minor captain, and on the 25th day of the 11th month of Genroku 15 (1702), he was summoned, and it was commanded that henceforth he should wear the shogunal crest. In the 4th month of Genroku 16 (1703), when leave to return to his domain was granted, the bestowed gifts were increased to 500 pieces of silver and 50 seasonal robes. From the time of half-domain until this point, 300 pieces of silver and 30 seasonal robes had been granted. During full domain status, 1,000 pieces of silver, 100 seasonal robes, horses, and two hawks were bestowed. On the 28th day of the 11th month of Hōei 1 (1704), both father and son were summoned and received one character from the shogun's name. At that time, ceremonial gift wrapping was personally bestowed by the shogun's hand, and a sword was granted. Ōi-no-kami was also commanded in the same manner, and most importantly received ceremonial gift wrapping personally from the shogun's hand.
