1. On the 7th day of the 7th month: A written notice (o-kakitsuke) delivered by the duty official (go-yōban), Inoue Kawachi-no-kami (Masamine), arrived in the form of a circular letter from the Senior Inspectors (ō-metsuke), reading as follows:
"Those who have lawsuits or petitions pending are strictly
forbidden from seeking personal connections and
sending gifts (imbetsu) to magistrates and their officials,
including even the most junior of their retainers.
As for those who violate this prohibition, even if
the lawsuit or petition in question appears to be
wholly reasonable and just, it shall under no
circumstances be permitted or entertained. Furthermore,
should such misconduct come to light even after
a judgment has already been rendered, swift
action shall be taken and appropriate punishment
shall be meted out."
2. On the 13th day of the 7th month: As Lady Toyohime was soon to depart for Kyoto, farewell gifts were presented to her: fifty silver coins (gin gojūmai) and one box of dried sea bream from [Lord Yoshikuni]. Lady Umehime also presented thirty bundles of cotton and one box of dried squid (surume).
3. On the 14th day of the 7th month:
