　屋中開軒多旁向或東或西庭院中設小山石樹黄

現代語訳

屋内では窓を多く横向きに開け、或いは東向き、或いは西向きにする。庭院の中には小さな山や石、樹木を設け、黄楊、烏木、檜、松の類を必ず剪定して束ね、整然とし、或いは方形、或いは円形に、層々として趣がある。

芝草は絨毯のように極めて細かく軟らかく、寸ほどの長さに柔らかく結ばれ、土と共に散らばることなく、山の上下に満遍なく敷かれている。或いは小さな石の池を置いて魚を飼い、その中に小さな石を立て、石の上に鉄蕉などの小木を植えて観賞用とする。

村の小道は皆極めて広く清潔で、多くは細い葉の小竹を編んで屏風や垣根を作り、葉を刈り揃えて方形に整え、緻密である。村落は皆このようで、寺院の前には或いは黄楊を列植して剪定し束ねて方形にし、葉が密集して壁のように数十歩ほど続く。また葉が冬青のような樹があり、六七月に小さな白い花を咲かせ、梔子のような香りで極めて芳しく、土地の名前では十里香と呼び、これも切って垣根や屏風とし、王宮に至るまで道の両側数里にわたって続いている。

米廩（米蔵）

米を蔵する廩も地上四五尺に懸けられ、遠くから望むと草亭のようで、下に十六本の柱を設け、柱の間の空いた所は人が通行できる。上は板の楼閣となっており、官倉は皆このようである。村民は或いは数家が共同で一つの亭を作り、米をその中に蔵し、日を分けて見張りをしている。

In the houses, many windows open sideways, either facing east or west. In the courtyards, small artificial hills, rocks, and trees are arranged, with species like boxwood, ebony, cypress, and pine that are carefully pruned and bound to maintain order, shaped either square or round in layered arrangements with aesthetic appeal.

The grass is like a carpet, extremely fine and soft, growing in tufts about an inch long, bound softly together with soil that doesn't scatter, spread evenly across the hills above and below. Sometimes small stone pools are placed to keep fish, with small stones erected in the center, and small trees like iron plantain planted on the stones for ornamental purposes.

The village paths are all extremely wide and clean. Many use woven screens and hedges made from small bamboo with fine leaves, with the leaves trimmed to be uniform, square, orderly, and dense. All villages are like this. In front of temples, boxwood trees are sometimes planted in rows, pruned and bound into square shapes, with leaves so dense they form walls extending for dozens of paces. There are also trees with leaves like winter-green that bloom with small white flowers in the sixth and seventh months, fragrant like gardenias and extremely aromatic. The local name is "ten-ri fragrance" (ten-mile fragrance), and these are also cut to make hedges and screens, extending for several ri along both sides of the road leading to the royal palace.

Rice Granaries

The granaries for storing rice are also elevated four to five feet above ground. From a distance they look like grass pavilions, with sixteen pillars erected below, and the spaces between pillars allow people to pass through. Above is a board gallery structure, and all official granaries are built this way. Village people sometimes have several families jointly build one pavilion to store rice inside, taking turns standing guard on different days.
