現代語訳

果たして顛素（張旭・懐素）と異なることがない。蓋しその国の僧はみな日本に遊学して帰り、その本国の子弟に書を教えるのである。汪録に言うところの「みな草書で隷字がない」というのは、今見ると果たしてその通りで、それが日本国書であることに疑いはない。

琉球語
　　《割書：臣》按ずるに前明嘉靖中の冊使陳侃の記に云う「称して夷語夷字有り」と
　　附録巻末に所伝あるも鈔本闕けて未だ見ず。万暦中の冊使夏子
　　陽給諫の使録刻に琉語有り。

英語訳

indeed no different from Dian and Su (Zhang Xu and Huai Su). This is because the monks of that country all study in Japan and return to teach the children of their homeland calligraphy. What Wang's record states—that "all is cursive script with no clerical script"—proves to be exactly true when seen today, and there is no doubt it is Japanese national script.

Ryukyu Language
　　Note: According to the records of Imperial Envoy Chen Kan during the Jiajing period of the former Ming, it states "there are said to be barbarian language and barbarian characters."
　　Although transmitted records exist in the appendix at the end of the volume, the manuscript copy is missing and has not been seen. The mission record of Imperial Envoy Xia Ziyang of the Censorate during the Wanli period contains Ryukyu language.
Zhang Xuerli, Imperial Envoy of our dynasty, also briefly recorded it in his miscellaneous notes. Now, based on his text, I make slight corrections.
　　The phonetic correspondences are uneven, and in matters of light-heavy and clear-muddy tones, errors ultimately cannot be avoided.
