**雑司ヶ谷の会式**
雑司ヶ谷の会式は、毎年十月八日から十三日まで執り行われる。参詣する人々は同じく六日頃から二十三日頃まで、稲麻のごとく群れ集まる。寺中ではそれぞれからくり人形などの飾り物を設け、いずれも宗祖上人の一代の間の出来事を作り表したものであり、これは一宗興立の功績を宗門の人々に示そうとするためであろうか。

**The E-shiki Festival at Zoshigaya**
The *e-shiki* (memorial religious festival) at Zoshigaya is held each year from the eighth to the thirteenth day of the tenth month. Worshippers and visitors flock together from around the sixth day through to approximately the twenty-third day, gathering in crowds as dense as a field of rice and hemp. Within the temple precincts, each sub-temple sets up decorative displays featuring *karakuri* mechanical puppets and the like, all of which depict scenes from the life of the founding patriarch. This is presumably done in order to demonstrate to the followers of the sect the meritorious achievements by which the patriarch established the school.
