(Continued from previous text) While I have the opportunity, I wish to report the following: Regarding the matter of one plot of land at Fukuro-zushi that the late Chujiro Dayu Sokunao (■) transferred to the temple precincts last year-end, I hereby report this belatedly. A written notice has accordingly been submitted. Item: On the 11th day, the 9th and 10th groups submitted written oral responses regarding the matter of Oyama village. Both groups submitted with collective signatures from their members. The 9th group has no unregistered persons (musoku-nin), and the matter concerns only the management of passage rights. The 10th group has only Ushinosuke and Kyōken as unregistered persons. While the wording is polite, the intent is in agreement with the 6th group. This is a petition requesting that, after consulting with all ten groups, the matter be entrusted to the shrine community. Item: On the same day, the Superintendent of Repairs, Nagato-no-kami Yoaki, submitted notice that he would be ascending to Kifune [Kibune] from the 14th of the coming month. Item: On the same day, when the dead wood along the firewood mountain path of the monthly deliberation hall was felled, it fell into the garden of Aki-no-kami Ujiki, damaging approximately three ken of fencing. The question arose as to whether the shrine community should bear the cost of repairs. The deliberation concluded that the repair should be arranged through the Repairs Office. Moroaki acknowledged this at the meeting. Item: On the same day, following the prayers, the monthly-duty priests conducted an inspection of the location for hanging the votive tablet (ema) that had been discussed previously. Accordingly, an explanation was to be given. Tetsuaki inspected the location and reported that while there had previously been a plan to hang it on the west side of the covered corridor as well, upon measuring, it became clear that it could not be hung in the corridor. Therefore, it was suggested that it be hung above the nageshi (horizontal rail) on the south side of the small chamber. However, since driving in nails and screws would cause considerable damage, it was recommended to consult with the head carpenter to find a way of hanging it with minimal damage. Item: On the same day, the administrator of Umegaji-machi town appeared and reported: Regarding the fine rice (karyō-mai) imposed on those who collected fallen leaves as previously ordered, efforts had been made to collect it, but only two shō per person had been brought in, totaling two tō and two shō from eleven persons. He requested an extension until autumn for the remaining rice. The deliberation concluded that since this was a matter of fine rice, such leniency could not be granted, and they were ordered to collect and submit it immediately. Once all the rice is gathered, it is to be forwarded to the mountain patrol officers. Item: The river commissioners submitted the following matter: Since there was a risk of the floating branch markers (nagareda) that had been placed previously being stolen, they inquired whether they should be retrieved. Note that some remain in the river and are still functioning effectively. The commissioners felt sorry about the situation. While the area had improved considerably with added sand fill, it appeared that on the previous night or the night before that, the river channel that had been dug was being blocked, with sod also being laid. If left as is, this would cause damage again should flooding occur. They inquired whether the stones, sand, and sod should all be removed. The deliberation concluded: The floating branch markers above water should be retrieved, while those still submerged should be left in place. Since it is a pity that the river that was laboriously dug is being dammed up in such a way, after proper assessment, the soil, sand, and sod should be cleared away, and arrangements should be made to slightly redirect the flow of the river channel. Kiho acknowledged this. Item: Moroaki submitted a request for one charm against lightning (kaminari-yoke o-mamori). This was granted. Item: Notice was submitted that Fujiki Tsurumatsudayu Chikaaki had changed his title name to Horinai. Item: The agricultural district office submitted the following: Regarding the matter of the road through the Tajika-ryō Honmachi district, as discussed at the previous meeting, an abstract ledger of the estimated base yield was submitted. The total is approximately 795 koku or more. This is a preliminary estimate and discrepancies may exist. Item: During the council meeting, Kiyobei, the headman of Oyama village, came on business regarding monetary exchange, and the opportunity was taken to inquire: Regarding the matter of the mortgage (mikake) that the village community is petitioning about, have you already filed a petition with another headquarters (honjo-kata), or have you not yet petitioned, intending to do so after the sacred territory's mortgage matter is settled? Upon inquiry, he replied that petitions had already been submitted to all parties. That is—
