【筑後守言直の来訪の件】
一、筑後守言直が躬清（みきよ）の亭へ来訪され、申し入れられたことには、先だって（三人の者が）遠慮（謹慎）を仰せ付けられたことについて、毎度一社中からも御願いをなされていると承知し、ありがたく存じます。私ども夫婦は八旬（八十歳）に及んでおり、難儀の様子は忍びがたく存じます。余命も残り少なく、この度、一社中まで相願い申し上げますので、宜しく御沙汰くださいますよう、とのことでした。則ち願書の控えは以下の通りです。

先だって遠慮を仰せ付けられた、鳥居大路出羽守・西池右京権亮・藤木越前守の儀、段々と困窮に及びましたことにつき、一社中からも御願い申し上げていただきましたこと、近頃はことに恐れ多く存じますが、私どもは漸く八旬に達し、余命もわずかでございます。嘆きに行き詰まり、恐れをも顧みずに御嘆き申し上げますので、御憐愍をもって御免くださいますよう、宜しくお願い申し上げます。以上。

[Regarding the visit of Chikugo-no-kami Kotanao]
Item: Chikugo-no-kami Kotanao visited the residence of Mikiyoshi and conveyed the following: He is aware that the shrine council has repeatedly petitioned on behalf of the three individuals who were previously ordered into seclusion (enkyo/confinement), and is grateful for this. He stated that, as he and his wife have both reached their eighties and find their hardship unbearable, with little remaining life, he now appeals directly to the shrine council and requests that appropriate measures be taken. The copy of the petition is as follows:

Regarding the matter of Toriiōji Dewa-no-kami, Nishiike Ukyō-no-gonnosuke, and Fujiki Echizen-no-kami, who were previously ordered into seclusion, they have fallen into increasing hardship and poverty, and we understand that the shrine council has been petitioning on their behalf. Though we find ourselves all the more overwhelmed by gratitude in recent times, as we have barely reached our eighties with little life remaining, we find ourselves at the end of our endurance and, despite our trepidation, submit this lament. We most humbly request that you show them mercy and grant them a pardon. Respectfully submitted.
