　[玳瑁]甲如＿二亀-鼈￣ノ＿一首-尾形少￣ク-尖￣ナリ。頭帯＿二淡-紅-色￣ヲ＿一。
　[海馬]馬-首魚-身無＿レ鱗。肉如＿レ豕￣ノ。頗難￣シ＿レ得。得￣ル者￣ハ先以進￣ム＿レ王￣ニ。
　[石鮔]首-円￣ナリ。下￣ニ生￣ス＿二 八-手￣ヲ＿一。無＿レ脚。土-人皆以入￣ル＿レ饌￣ニ。
　[蟳]肉最-佳￣ナリ。味如￣ニシテ＿レ蟹￣ノ而大￣ナリ。性温。[蟹]大-小種-族各-異￣ナリ。有＿二小-
　蟹＿一 五-色。両-螯左-大￣ニ螯右-小。小￣ハ以￣テ取￣リ＿レ食￣ヲ。大￣ハ以外￣ニ-禦￣ク。惟大-螯
　朱-紅-色。名曰＿二照-火￣ト＿一。小-蟹居￣ルヲ＿二螺殻￣ノ中￣ニ＿一名＿二寄-生￣ト＿一。

現代語訳

蚊や蝿は皆冬に発生する。蟻は中国と同じである。ただし腹が透明で水晶のようである。これを殺すと水滴が出る。

鱗族（魚類）には鮫・鯉・鮒・鰻・鰍・蝦・金魚・銀縷魚がいる。珍しい産物には毛魚・針魚・燕魚等がある。それらは緑色・紅色で、緑の鱗に紅い模様があり、五彩が相交わっている。あるものは円く、あるものは長い。数え切れないほどである。土地の人はその色やその形に就いてそれを呼ぶが、皆名前がない。海魚を生のまま片に切り、夜中に暗い所からこれを見ると、皆透明で緑火光色がある。熱河の夜光木のようである。

【毛魚】細小である。外見は腐ったように似ているが、咀嚼すると味がある。閩人は皆これを重んじて珍品とする。七月朔の前後五日、八月朔の前後五日に、海中で陣を排して出る。他の月は出ない。

【針魚】頭に針の形を戴いている。また鱵とも名付ける。【靴魚】頭が長くて靴のようである。

【燕魚】燕のように翼があって能く飛ぶ。古名は鳐。俗に飛魚と呼ぶ。

介族（甲殻類）には亀・黿・鼈がいる。珍しいものには玳瑁等がある。

【玳瑁】甲は亀鼈のようで、首尾の形が少し尖っている。頭に淡紅色を帯びる。

【海馬】馬の首で魚の身、鱗がない。肉は豕のようである。なかなか得難い。得た者は先ず王に進上する。

【石鮔】首が円い。下に八手を生ずる。脚がない。土人は皆食事に入れる。

【蟳】肉が最も佳い。味は蟹のようで大きい。性質は温である。【蟹】大小の種族が各々異なる。小蟹で五色のものがある。両螯は左が大きく右が小さい。小さい方は食べ物を取るのに使い、大きい方は外敵を防ぐのに使う。ただ大螯は朱紅色である。照火と名付ける。小蟹で螺殻の中に居るものを寄生と名付ける。

Mosquitoes and flies all emerge in winter. Ants are the same as in China, but their abdomens are transparent like crystal. When killed, they produce drops of water.

Among the scaled creatures (fish), there are sharks, carp, crucian carp, eels, loaches, shrimp, goldfish, and silver-thread fish. Exotic species include hair fish, needle fish, swallow fish, and others. They are green and red in color, with green scales and red patterns, with five colors intermingling. Some are round, some are long - too numerous to count. The local people call them by their colors and shapes, but they all lack proper names. When sea fish are cut into pieces while fresh and viewed from dark places at night, they all appear transparent with a green fire-light color, like the night-glowing wood of Rehe.

**Hair Fish**: Small and fine. Externally appears rotten, but when chewed has flavor. The Fujian people all value it as a delicacy. They emerge in formation from the sea five days before and after the first day of the seventh month, and five days before and after the first day of the eighth month. In other months they do not appear.

**Needle Fish**: Has a needle-shaped projection on its head. Also called halfbeak. **Shoe Fish**: Has a long head like a shoe.

**Swallow Fish**: Like a swallow with wings and can fly. The ancient name is ray. Commonly called flying fish.

Among the shelled creatures, there are turtles, soft-shelled turtles, and terrapins. Unusual ones include hawksbill turtles and others.

**Hawksbill Turtle**: The shell is like that of turtles and terrapins, with the head and tail somewhat pointed. The head has a light reddish color.

**Sea Horse**: Horse head with fish body, no scales. The meat is like pork. Quite difficult to obtain. Those who catch one first present it to the king.

**Stone Octopus**: Has a round head. Eight arms grow from below. No legs. The local people all include it in their meals.

**Swimming Crab**: The meat is excellent. Tastes like crab but is larger. Has a warm nature. **Crab**: Large and small species differ from each other. There are small crabs with five colors. Of the two claws, the left is large and the right is small. The small one is used for taking food, the large one for defense. Only the large claw is vermillion red in color. It is called "fire-lighter." Small crabs that live in snail shells are called "parasites."
