◯ また同じ辺りでのことであるが、ある人の家が風雨に押されて次第に傾き、今にも倒れそうになったため、すぐ隣が寺であるので、その寺の門へ逃げようと雨戸を開けると、空がなんとなく赤い箇所があり、怪しんでそれを見ると、その中に牛のようなものが二匹、あちらこちらへ飛び回っていたので、大いに驚き、そのまま内へ逃げ込んで、隣へは行かなかったとのことである。このような大変の折には、右のような怪しいことも起こるものなのであろうか。
◯ 谷中門外の谷中通りは、善光寺坂の下・上・清水門・茶屋町・団子坂通りで小さな家の倒壊が多かった。同所の瑞林寺は残らず潰れ、幡随院の境内の樹木はことごとく打ち折れた。三浦坂下の小屋敷は両側の大半が潰れた。同所の祖師堂は幸いにして恙なかったが、庫裏は丸ごと潰れた。

The roof of the Shinobazu Benzaiten shrine was entirely severely damaged, and all the teahouses were likewise damaged. Furthermore, from the base of the hill (*yamashita*) outward along the streets, both residences and townspeople's houses suffered damage. In the areas of Okitte-machi, Yamazaki-chō, Tōmyōji-dana Street, Umebori, and before the hall (*dō-mae*), everything was destroyed; the main hall of Seigan-ji temple collapsed, and much of the surrounding area was severely damaged. The estates of Lord Katō and Lord Izumo in the vicinity suffered damage in various places, and groundwater welled up in great quantities. The temple precincts in front of Kōtoku-ji also suffered severe damage in various places. The exhibition booths (*misemono-goya*) at Yamashita were entirely blown to pieces, and there were collapsed houses among the Buddhist altar shops (*hotoke-dana*). The row-houses (*kumiyashiki*) in the areas of Naka-Okachi-machi, Izumi-bashi Street, and Osōji-machi were entirely severely damaged; the Onari-michi road suffered minor damage. Along the embankment road of Mukai-Yanagihara and Yanagihara, the roadside stalls (*tokomi-se*) all had their roofs blown off.
◯ A house at Sanmai-bashi collapsed and was on the verge of catching fire; however, in this entire area, water flowing down from Shinobazu [Pond] caused the drainage ditches to overflow, filling the streets and even the garden interiors with a sheet of water, which in the deeper places reached as high as the knees. Therefore, [people] pushed the burning fire [debris] into the water, submerging it, and it was extinguished on the spot.

◯ Also in the same area, a certain person's house was pressed by the wind and rain, gradually leaning and about to collapse. Since the immediate neighbor was a temple, the person attempted to flee to the temple's gate, and upon opening the rain shutters, noticed that the sky appeared somewhat reddish in one place. Looking at it with suspicion, they saw what appeared to be two creatures resembling oxen flying about in all directions within that reddish glow, and being greatly startled, retreated back inside and did not go to the neighboring [temple] after all. Perhaps in the midst of such a great calamity, such strange and uncanny events do indeed occur.
◯ Outside the Yanaka Gate (*Yanaka-mon soto*), along Yanaka Street—from the bottom and top of Zenkōji slope, through Shimizu-mon, Chaya-machi, and Dango-zaka Street—many small houses collapsed. Zuirin-ji temple in the same area was completely destroyed without a single building remaining, and every tree within the precincts of Banzui-in was broken and felled. On both sides of Miura-zaka slope, most of the small estates were destroyed. The Soshi-dō (Founder's Hall) in the same area fortunately escaped unscathed; however, the kitchen quarters (*kuri*) were completely destroyed.
◯ In Nezu, the row-houses of the Akasugumiashiki within the main gate (*sōmon*) were damaged in various places, and a great many houses were completely destroyed. The estate of Lord Mori-Naitō was largely damaged. The shops on both sides of the streets of Miyanaga-machi and Monzen-machi, for a length of approximately one hundred and fifty *ken* or more, were entirely destroyed.
