（養子が断られた際に）家業（職業・家職）を理由とした申し立てをする者もあり、先年に二度目の養子が許可された者もあった。しかしながら、家業等がある者は、家業を相続できる者、あるいは弟子の中からでもそのような者を十分に吟味した上で、養子の願いを申し出るべきものである。今後は、家業がある者であっても、二度目の養子の願いは取り上げない。以上の通り、いよいよ（一層）下（藩士たち）においてもその趣旨をよく理解しておくよう、仰せ出された。 以上

一、六月十六日、暑中につき、慣例通り御書（書状）をもって、御国産の素麺を献上された。
一、同日、暑中の御機嫌伺いの御使者として塩谷貞右衛門（※肩書き：武）が、昨十五日に江戸へ着き、今夕、御用番・松平左近将監（乗邑）殿のもとへ罷り出て、御書を差し出した。
一、同月十七日、御用番・松平左近将監（乗邑）殿において、上杉民部大輔（宗憲）殿の留守居へ、用人を通じて申し聞かされた御書付について、民部大輔殿の留守居より廻達（回覧・通達）があった。
【御書付の内容】
御献上物の御伺いの際、御本丸・西丸の両方に分けて（別々に）書き認めて差し出すやり方があるが、今後は両御丸への献上物の御伺い書を一枚の紙にまとめて書き認め、差し出すこと。
一、同月十八日、御帰国の御礼の御使者・芦田図書（賢納）が（※昨十七日に御用番より御留守居まで御切紙が届いた）、御城へ罷り出たところ（※御留守居・坂田七右衛門が同道）、■之間において御老中・松平左近将監（乗邑）殿が出座され、御返書が渡された。その際、図書（芦田図書）へ御巻物を拝領するよう仰せ付けられた旨、（以下へ続く）

There were also cases in which persons submitted petitions citing their family occupation (ie-gyō) as grounds for reconsideration, and in previous years there were even instances in which a second adoption was approved. Nevertheless, those who possess a family occupation should thoroughly examine whether there is someone — even among their disciples or apprentices — who is capable of succeeding in that occupation, and only then submit an adoption petition. Henceforth, even for those with a family occupation, a second adoption petition shall not be entertained. It has been officially proclaimed that the retainers below shall thoroughly understand and abide by this principle. The above is hereby declared.
Fifteenth Day of the Sixth Month
Item: On the sixteenth day of the sixth month, as it was midsummer, in accordance with established custom, a letter was sent along with a presentation of sōmen (thin noodles), a local product of the domain, as a midsummer gift.
Item: On the same day, Shionoya Teiemon (military role noted in annotation) arrived in Edo on the fifteenth of the previous day as an envoy to inquire after the shogun's health during the midsummer season. That evening, he appeared before the duty senior councillor (go-yōban), Matsudaira Sakon-no-shōgen (Norimura), and presented the letter.
Item: On the seventeenth day of the same month, through an intermediary official (yōnin), the duty senior councillor Matsudaira Sakon-no-shōgen (Norimura) communicated a written notice to the caretaker representative (rusui) of Uesugi Mimbu-no-taifu (Munenori). This notice was subsequently circulated by Lord Mimbu-no-taifu's caretaker representative.
**Contents of the Written Notice:**
When submitting inquiries regarding offerings and gifts to the shogun, there is a practice of preparing and submitting separate documents for the Main Keep (Hon-maru) and the West Keep (Nishi-maru). Henceforth, the inquiry document for offerings to both keeps shall be written on a single sheet of paper and submitted as one document.
Item: On the eighteenth day of the same month, Ashida Zusho (Yoshinō), the envoy dispatched to offer thanks for the lord's return to the domain, proceeded to Edo Castle (Note: a notification slip [kiri-gami] had arrived from the duty senior councillor to the caretaker representative on the seventeenth, the previous day; the caretaker representative Sakata Shichizaemon accompanied him). At the ■-no-ma (a room in the castle, name partially illegible), Senior Councillor (Rōjū) Matsudaira Sakon-no-shōgen (Norimura) appeared in attendance and presented the return letter.
