(前ページより続き)三つに折って折り目を切り、橋の下へ投げ流す。(橋より)上方へは神主のものを流し捨て、下方へは祝のものを捨てる。また橋殿の上方の腋橋より帰る。橋殿の下にて所司・別当の二人が(神主・祝の)裾を挟み、退去の際に橋殿にて着座がある。西は祢宜方、東は祝方で、北が上座である。その時、倭文庄の御馬が乗り出し、次々と馬が続いて乗り過ぎ、二の鳥居を出て御生所へ参られる。壇幄(だんあく)の祝詞は目代々(もくだいどもの)役である。毎年の作法については記すには及ばない。夕の御料は、馬が御生所へ向かった後、備進(びしん)される。五人が(馬に)乗り、(その後)下向して橋殿へ昇られる。御神事が済んだ旨を申された時に、各々起座する。沢田より宮巡りをして庁屋に着く。内陣・外陣の御料が通る。退出以前に、別当が植祭のことを申し渡し、明日に行う旨を申し渡す。みとしろ(御歳代)の御田は松の行事、竹鼻口の神田は祝の中間(ちゅうげん)が早苗などを用意するよし(とのことである)。

二十五日、植祭である。土屋に六人が着き、忌子が参られる。御料・祝方ばかり参る。鯛《割書:六枚》・鯣(するめ)《割書:十枚か》。祢宜方よりは御櫃《割書:二つ》で、内一つは唐ひ(豆腐か)を、一つは御菓子を、いつものように御箸・御酒・御茶碗に入れ、台に居え(据え)て参る。外陣の日供は昼に参る。御戸開以下いつものように過ぎて、沢田にて奉幣、五官ながら一度に参振(まいりふる)也。幣は矢刀祢(やとね)より渡す。幣二本と笏とを持ち添えて、川を隔てて振ること二度である。振り終わって蹲居(そんきょ)していると、矢刀祢が二本の幣を取る。そのまま蹲居している時に、小石を紙に包み、五人ながらの笏の上に置く。それを持って立つ。さて着座する。東北は神主、西南は祝、北は祢宜、南は祝で、忌子も南である。御供・御櫃が通る。また日供を刀祢が据え置く。その後、権祝(ごんほうり)・社務代・忌子が殿上・下の御田へ参られる。四人はそれより退去する。

[Continued from the previous page] They fold the items into three, cut along the fold lines, and cast them down into the river beneath the bridge. Those belonging to the head priest (kannushi) are cast into the upstream side, while those of the ritualist (hōri) are discarded downstream. They then return via the upper side-bridge (waki-bashi) of the Hashi-dono. Below the Hashi-dono, the shoshi and bettō tuck in the hems (of the officials' robes) and as they depart, seating is arranged within the Hashi-dono: the west side is for the negi (junior priests), the east for the hōri's party, with north as the upper seat. At this time, the sacred horse from Shizuri-no-shō rides out, followed by horse after horse in succession, all passing through the second torii gate and proceeding to the O-umare-dokoro (sacred birth place / foaling ground). The norito (ritual prayer) at the dan'aku (altar enclosure) is the duty of the moku-dai-domo (representatives of the land stewards). As the procedures are performed every year, there is no need to record them here. The evening o-ryō (ritual offerings) are presented as the horses head toward the O-umare-dokoro. Five riders mount and then descend and ascend to the Hashi-dono. When it is announced that the divine rites are complete, each person rises from their seat. They perform a shrine circuit from Sawada and arrive at the Chōya (administrative hall). The ritual offerings of the inner and outer sanctuaries pass through. Before withdrawing, the bettō announces the matter of the Uwe-matsuri (Planting Festival), stating that it will be held the following day. Regarding the sacred fields of mitoshiro (tribute rice fields): the o-ta of Matsu-gyōji and the jinri (sacred rice fields) of Takehana-guchi — the hōri's chūgen (manservant) is to prepare the seedlings (sanae) and other necessary items.
One note: Today, garlic (ninniku) is prepared and presented in an o-hitsu (lacquered box) from the negi's side.
25th Day: It is the Uwe-matsuri (Rice Planting Festival). Six people take their seats at the Tsuchiya, and the Imiko (sacred child attendant) comes forward. Only the o-ryō and the hōri's party attend. Tai (sea bream) 《marginal note: six pieces》 and surume (dried squid) 《marginal note: perhaps ten pieces》 are provided. From the negi's side, two o-hitsu (lacquered boxes) are brought, one containing tōhi (possibly tōfu, bean curd) and the other o-kashi (confections), along with chopsticks, sake, and tea bowls as usual, all placed on a stand and brought forward. The outer sanctuary's daily offering (nikkū) is presented at noon. The opening of the sacred doors and subsequent procedures proceed as usual. At Sawada, the offering of heihaku (ritual paper/cloth streamers) is made, with all five officials participating and waving the offerings simultaneously. The heihaku are passed by the ya-tonnei (arrow official). Holding two heihaku wands and a shaku (ceremonial baton), they wave them across the river twice. When the waving is finished and they are crouching (sonkyo), the ya-tonnei takes back the two wands of heihaku. While still crouching, small stones are wrapped in paper and placed on the shaku of all five officials. They rise holding these. They then take their seats: northeast is the head priest, southwest is the hōri (ritualist), north is the negi (junior priest), south is another hōri, and the imiko is also to the south. The o-tomo (ritual offerings) and o-hitsu pass through. Additionally, the daily offerings (nikkū) are placed by the tonnei. After this, the gon-hōri (provisional ritualist), the shamu-dai (shrine affairs representative), and the imiko proceed to the upper and lower sacred rice fields (o-ta). The remaining four persons then withdraw.
