このことを告げて少し進み出て印殿の方に向かい、硯箱の蓋を開ける《ただし蒔絵の蓋がある場合》《伏せて置く》。墨を取って摺る。次に筆一対を右手で取って左手に移す。一対とも少し鞘を外して試し書きをする。書くことができる筆のみを残し置く。残りの筆は鞘を元通りにして本来の場所に戻す。書くことができる筆は鞘を取り、墨を含ませて硯箱の内側に寄せかけておく。次に料紙を執る《ただし中紙を執り、板目を裏とする》。政所下文両通の竪文並びに定ヶ条書等を書く《この時、持参した案文を取り出して右方に披き置く》。吉書三通の次第は案文の通りに従ってこれを認める。その案文は左の如し。

早く下知の旨を守り且つ所務の催促に随って沙汰し
御年貢等を進むべき間の事
右御年貢は先例に任せて沙汰し進むべきの旨

Having announced this, he advances slightly toward the direction of the seal hall and opens the lid of the inkstone box《however, if there is a maki-e decorated lid》《place it face down》. Take ink and grind it. Next, take a pair of brushes with the right hand and transfer them to the left hand. Remove the sheaths slightly from both brushes to test them. Keep only the brushes suitable for writing. Return the remaining brushes to their original place with sheaths restored as before. For the brushes suitable for writing, remove the sheath, dip in ink, and rest them against the inside of the inkstone box. Next, take the writing paper《however, take the middle paper with the grain side as the reverse》. Write the mandai office documents in two copies in vertical format, along with articles of regulations, etc.《at this time, take out the draft text brought along and spread it open to the right》. The sequence of the three auspicious documents follows the draft text exactly as written. That draft text is as follows:
