勢力が来た。蝦夷はこれを見て大いに恐れ、周章狼狈して順風を待たずに船を浮かべて逃げ帰った。その折節、逆風が起こって十数艘が一時に砕け、溺死する者が百余人となった。船を出した後、やむを得ずウルップ島に留まる者もいた。

A large force arrived. The Ainu saw this and were greatly frightened, becoming confused and panicked. Without waiting for favorable winds, they launched their boats and fled back home. At that moment, contrary winds arose and more than ten vessels were smashed all at once, with over a hundred people drowning. After setting out to sea, some had no choice but to remain on Urup Island.
