（第三）便所・ごみ溜め・下水等
（便所）は毎日その糞池を掃除し、十分に緑礬・石炭酸の合剤（第六）をまき散らし、再び悪臭を放つのを見たら直ちにこれをふりかけるべきである。
（ごみ溜め）は流行前に掃除すべきで、すでに流行の時期に及んで掃除するのは、かき回してその悪い気を揮発させ、かえって害があることがある。そのまま静置して、時々その上に石炭酸末（第二）をまき散らしてこれを覆うべきである。あるいは掃除の時に際して石炭酸・緑礬の合剤（第六）を注ぐのもまた良い。
（下水・溝渠）は毎日これを疎通し、水を注いで洗浄すべきである。ひどく汚物が滞留して塞がっている所は石炭酸水（第四）を注ぐのが良い。

should be washed with carbolic acid solution (No. 4) each time they are used, or fumigated with carbolic acid vapor (No. 7) and sulfurous acid gas (No. 8). Equipment contained in these vehicles and palanquins should be treated according to the disinfection methods described in the previous section.
(Section 3) Latrines, Garbage Pits, Sewers, etc.
(Latrines) should have their waste pools cleaned daily and thoroughly sprinkled with a compound of green vitriol and carbolic acid (No. 6), and whenever foul odors are detected again, this should be immediately applied.
(Garbage pits) should be cleaned before an epidemic. Cleaning during an epidemic can be harmful as it stirs up and volatilizes noxious gases. They should be left undisturbed and occasionally covered by sprinkling carbolic acid powder (No. 2) on top. Alternatively, pouring a compound of carbolic acid and green vitriol (No. 6) during cleaning is also good.
(Sewers and ditches) should be cleared daily and washed clean by pouring water through them. For areas severely clogged with filth, it is good to pour carbolic acid solution (No. 4).
