人民不少趣被聞召天災とは申ながら不便に被 思召依之死亡ものゝ為十一月二日諸宗寺院ニ於て施餓鬼
修行被仰付誠ニ御仁恵之程難有

あり人 儡地（らいち）へ諸道具をつみ野宿
すること毎夜也此人〻へ御上より
の大そうの御飯を三日ゟ廿日迄被下置

又は出入之者或は御小屋入之者又は
地面うち等へ施行米銭を出す
〇最寄の寺〻にてせがき供養ある事諸方なり右何れも広大なれ共爰に略す
現代語訳
○十月二日の地震による出火で焼死した人民が少なくないことが聞こえてきた。天災とはいえ、不憫に思われ、これにより死亡した者たちのために十一月二日に諸宗の寺院において施餓鬼の修行を仰せ付けられた。まことに御仁恵のほど有り難いことである。
右の寺々の名前を左に記し申し候。

○二日夜から同二十日頃まで度々小さな地震があり、人々は空き地へ諸道具を積んで野宿することが毎夜であった。この人々へお上より大層な御飯を三日から二十日まで下し置かれた。
○市中の町人共が分限に応じて町内又は出入りの者或いは御小屋入りの者又は地面打ち等へ施行米銭を出す。
○最寄りの寺々にて施餓鬼供養があることは諸方なり。右いずれも広大なれどもここに略す。
英語訳
○It was heard that no small number of people perished in the fires caused by the earthquake on the second day of the tenth month. Though it was a natural disaster, His Lordship felt pity for them, and on the second day of the eleventh month, memorial services (segaki) were ordered to be performed at temples of various Buddhist sects for those who died. This truly shows his benevolent grace.

Same - Shirokane same temple Enman-in

Nishi Hongan-ji - Rinban Yogaku-ji

Great memorial services were performed at the aforementioned temples.

Outside Saiwai-bashi Gate, Asakusa Hirokoji, Fukagawa Seaside Shinden, Same Hachiman Precincts, Ueno Mountain Base Fire Prevention Grounds

○From the night of the second until around the twentieth, there were frequent small earthquakes, and people camped outdoors every night, piling their belongings in vacant lots. To these people, the authorities provided substantial rice meals from the third to the twentieth day.
○Townspeople throughout the city, according to their means, provided charitable rice and money to their neighborhoods, their workers, those in the relief shelters, or those camping on vacant lots.
○Memorial services were held at nearby temples in many places. Though all were extensive, they are abbreviated here.
