2日に2度揺れ、4日も揺れ、12日は2度揺れ、11月15日も揺れ、22日は大きく揺れ、24日、29日も揺れ、12月1日・2日も揺れた。14日に清行僧百人を大極殿に集め、3日間にわたって大般若経を転読させた。16日に地震があって雪が降り、19日もまた揺れた。年が改まって同5年2月5日・12日・15日、3月4日・11日、6月3日・5日・25日も揺れた。同年7月29日、老人の租税を免除され、80歳以上並びに後家・やもめ・親のない子・子のないもので貧しい者に物を賜った。同年10月22日大地震。○同6年3月1日地が大いに震えた。○同7年正月3日辰時、出羽国で大地震があり、秋田城・四天王寺が倒れ、家屋が倒壊し、打たれて死んだ民15人、負傷者100人余り。地で裂けない所もなく、ある所は30丈ほど、ある所は20丈ほどに及んだ。秋田川の水は涸れ尽くした。震動は1時間に7、8度ずつ、同月28日に至ってもやまず、風が吹き雪も降った。同年4月、朝廷より使者を派遣し、当年の租税を免除し、家屋を修築させ、圧死したものを葬らせた。同年5月17日間、僧百人を大極殿に召され、大般若経を転読させた。○同10年2月24日巳刻、地が大いに震えた。以上『類聚国史』より。
仁明天皇承和3年5月20日、地が大いに震えた。○同8年2月13日、信濃国で地震があり、一夜におよそ94度、塀や家屋が倒れ崩れ、身分の上下を問わず損害を受けなかった者はなかった。○この年伊豆国で地震があり、人も物も損傷し、租税を免除されるなどの事は出羽国と同じであった（月日はまだ明らかでない）。以上『続日本後紀』より。
文徳天皇嘉祥3年8月26日、地が西北より震え来て、鶏・雉がみな驚いた。○同年10月、出羽国で地が大いに震えて裂け、山は谷となり谷は山となり、圧死する者が多かった。救済の次第は前と同じ。以上『文徳実録』より。○同斉衡2年5月5日大地震で、南都東大寺の大仏の御頭が地に落ちた（『和漢合運図』）。同3年3月、この月しばしば地震があり、京都及び城南で家屋が壊れ、仏塔が傾いた。○同天安元年7月8日、地が大いに震えた。

The earthquakes continued: twice on the 2nd, on the 4th, twice on the 12th. In the 11th month, earthquakes occurred on the 15th, a major one on the 22nd, and on the 24th and 29th. In the 12th month, earthquakes occurred on the 1st and 2nd. On the 14th, one hundred pure monks were gathered in the Daigokuden (Great Extreme Hall) and made to recite the Daihannya-kyō (Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra) for three days. On the 16th, there was an earthquake and it snowed; on the 19th it shook again. The year changed to the 5th year of Tenchō, with earthquakes on 2/5, 2/12, 2/15, 3/4, 3/11, 6/3, 6/5, and 6/25. On 7/29 of the same year, taxes for the elderly were forgiven, and goods were given to those over 80, as well as to widows, orphans, childless people, and the poor. On 10/22, there was a major earthquake. ○ In the 6th year, 3/1, the earth shook greatly. ○ In the 7th year, 1/3 at the hour of the Dragon, there was a major earthquake in Dewa Province. Akita Castle and Shitennō-ji Temple collapsed, houses fell, 15 people died from being struck, and over 100 were injured. There was no place on the ground that did not crack, some extending about 30 jō, others about 20 jō. The Akita River dried up completely. The shaking occurred 7-8 times per hour, continuing until the 28th of the same month, with wind and snow. In the 4th month, the court sent envoys, forgave that year's taxes, had houses repaired, and had the crushed dead buried. In the 5th month for 17 days, 100 monks were summoned to the Daigokuden to recite the Daihannya-kyō. ○ In the 10th year, 2/24 at the hour of the Snake, the earth shook greatly.
