験（けん）の僧也。くらゐはおなじ三地ぼさつなり。いづ
れもいのりのつよければ。さらにせうぶはなかり
けり。こくうのうちには矢（や）のはせちかひて。鏃（やじり）つき
あひては。其矢くだけて地におち。くろ雲う
ずまきて。日月のひかりもくもり。時々はいかづちも
なりはためき。いなびかりひらめく。地もうごき
て物すさまじ。一七日の間。東寺西寺の両ばうに
ごまのだんをくたらずして。いのらせ給ふそお
そろしき。こゝに空海はかりことをめぐらし

験の僧である。位は同じ三地菩薩である。どちらも祈りが強いので、まったく勝負がつかなかった。虚空の中では矢が飛び交い、矢尻が突き合っては、その矢が砕けて地に落ちた。黒雲が渦巻いて、日月の光も曇り、時々は雷も鳴り響き、稲光が閃く。地も動いて、ものすごい有様である。一週間の間、東寺と西寺の両方で護摩の壇を絶やすことなく、祈祷をなされるのは恐ろしいことである。ここで空海は計略を巡らし
