て行ことくに見ゆるこれ岸のうこき行にはあらす
実（しつ）は舟の動（うこき）ゆく也しかれは天を岸（きし）にたとへ地
を舟にたとへたるは非也 至（いたり）ておろかなる人は
地はうこくものと心得て冬に寒気（かんき）のはなはた
しからさるは地か南へ寄（より）たるといへり論（ろん）する
に及さる也もし地動て転（てん）しめくり天動すして
静（しつか）ならは日月の行道南北にかたよらす五星の
度（と）に遅速（をそくはやく）なく地に震揺（ふるいうこき）なく節に寒暑（かんしよ）ある
まし天は軽清（かるくす）む故に転し動（うこ）きてすみやか也
地はおもく濁（にこ）り故に静にして定れり其上天の
行事至てすみやか也是を天は静にして地は動
と云は舟にたとへる時は一日に数（す）千里を走（はし）るか
ことし地はうこかさる証拠（せうこ）には人安く食し安ク寝（いぬ）る也
しからは天は動て外をめくり地は静にして中に

て行くように見える。これは岸が動いて行くのではなく、実際は舟が動いて行くのである。したがって天を岸にたとえ地を舟にたとえるのは間違いである。極めて愚かな人は地が動くものと心得て、冬に寒気がそれほど厳しくないのは地が南へ寄ったからだと言う。論ずるに値しない。もし地が動いて転がり回り、天が動かずに静かであるならば、日月の軌道が南北に偏ることもなく、五星の運行に遅速もなく、地に震動もなく、季節に寒暑もないであろう。天は軽く澄んでいる故に転じ動いて速やかである。地は重く濁っている故に静かで安定している。その上天の運行は極めて速やかである。これを天は静かで地は動くと言うのは、舟にたとえる時は一日に数千里を走るようなものである。地が動かない証拠には、人が安らかに食し安らかに眠ることができることがある。
