ば褐色となり、中に黒い種子がある。また「纏豆藤（てんづとう・まめだふじ）」『古今医鑑』水谷豊文考と呼ばれるものは、すなわちその一種である。夏に田野に生育する。大豆や緑豆などに右巻きに絡みつき、その根は枯れしぼんでしまう。葉はなく、紅色で糸のようであり、兎絲（ねなしかづら）に似ている。細かい小さな花を開き、種子を結び、秋の後にその蔓は枯れしぼむ。

本草綱目集解に云う。蘓頌が曰く、今近道にもまたこれ有り、寃句の者を以て勝れりと為す。夏に苗を生じ、初めは細絲の如く、地に遍く、自ら起つ能わず。他草の梗を得れば則ち纏繞して生じ、其の根漸く地に絶え、而して空中に寄す。或いは云う、根無く気に假りて生ずと、信に然り。

Also, what is called "tendzutō (bean-wrapping vine)" according to Mizutani Toyobumi's research in "Kokon Ikan (Ancient and Modern Medical Mirror)" is actually one of its varieties. It grows in fields during summer. It wraps clockwise around soybeans, mung beans, and other plants, causing its roots to wither and shrivel. It has no leaves, is reddish in color like thread, and resembles dodder (nenashikadura). It opens tiny small flowers, forms seeds, and after autumn its vines wither and shrivel.

The Bencao Gangmu (Compendium of Materia Medica) collection states: Su Song said that nowadays it also exists in nearby areas, with those from Yuanqu considered superior. It produces shoots in summer, initially like fine thread, spreading across the ground, unable to rise by itself. When it encounters stems of other plants, it then wraps around and grows, its roots gradually disconnecting from the ground and dwelling suspended in air. Some say it has no roots and grows by borrowing qi (life force), which is indeed true.
