は即ち果実である。なお冬瓜（とうがん）、壺盧（ゆふがほ）、絲瓜（へちま）等の花弁を果実の頭に戴くのと同じである。その殻は厚く皺が多い。陳倉胡桃（ひめぐるみ）『同書』は、その垂れ下がる花が古い枝の先端に集まり、実はなくすぐに落ちる。果実の頭の花は山胡桃（おにぐるみ）と同じで、その果実は薄く皺が少ない。胡桃（てうせんくるみ）は朝鮮産の種で稀である。その形状は省略する。

本草綱目集解に云う　時珍曰く、玉蜀黍の種は西土より出る。種を植える者もまた稀である。その苗葉はともに蜀黍に似て肥えて矮小で、また薏苡の苗にも似る。高さ三、四尺、六、七月に花を開いて穂を成し、秕麦の状のようである。苗の心から別に一つの苞を出し、椶魚の形のようである。苞の上から白い鬚を出して垂れ下がる。■すると苞が折れて子が出て、粒々と集まる。子もまた稷子のように大きく、黄白色で炒って食べることができる。これを炒ると白い花が折れ、糯の殻を炒った状態のようである。

is the fruit itself. It is like winter melon, bottle gourd, loofah, etc., which bear petals on the head of their fruits. The shell is thick with many wrinkles. Chencang walnut (himegurumi) "Same book" has drooping flowers that cluster at the tips of old branches, bearing no fruit and falling immediately. The flowers at the fruit head are the same as mountain walnut (onigurumi), and its fruit is thin with few wrinkles. Walnut (chōsenkurumi) is a Korean variety and is rare. I omit its description.

The Bencao Gangmu Jijie states: Shizhen said that corn seeds come from the western lands. Those who plant the seeds are also rare. Both the seedlings and leaves resemble sorghum but are plump and dwarf, also resembling Job's tears seedlings. Three to four feet tall, flowering in the sixth and seventh months forming ears like blighted wheat. From the heart of the seedling emerges a separate bract shaped like a palm fish. White whiskers emerge from the top of the bract and hang down. When ■ occurs, the bract breaks and seeds emerge, clustering together grain by grain. The seeds are also as large as millet seeds, yellow-white in color, and can be eaten roasted. When roasted, white flowers break apart, resembling the state of roasted glutinous rice husks.
