The above two documents were brought to the West Office by Kanemochi alone. He returned home before the hour of the monkey on the 18th and gave his report.
18th day - Clear weather
1. Horikawa Saemon-no-jo from the Ministry of Public Works arrived and set up a temporary curtained pavilion in front of the Wakamiya shrine. He brought four laborers with him and wore formal court dress (tsuzuki-kamishimo). The pavilion measured one and a half ken north-south and two ken east-west.
1. At the hour of the dragon, purification of the main hall was performed. The Chief of Onmyōdō, Junior Fifth Rank Upper Yoshiaki, and the Assistant, Junior Fourth Rank Upper Motomune (each wearing court dress and accompanied by one hakuchō attendant) participated. One tōne and one jinnin were brought along to carry necessary items. However, the offerings and ritual procedures were the same as for the purification of the temporary hall.
1. Construction Magistrate Kanetō appeared and erected spears as in previous festivals. The locations handled by the jinnin were: two at the left and right of the tower gate, two each at the left and right of the second torii, two each at the left and right of the first torii, and two at the left and right of the third torii - twelve spears in total.
1. After the hour of the horse, the shrine priests and ujibito who were keeping vigil proceeded to the new main hall. They installed the sacred beach platform, twelve tatami mats, thick tatami, and large room tatami. The head priest wore court dress while the others wore purification robes, hakama, and formal attendant dress as before. The names appear in the entry for the 13th day. However, the remaining sacred treasures were to be arranged by the hour of the dragon tomorrow. Of course, Onmyō Master Yoshiaki participated and performed purification in the connecting corridor according to precedent, with four tōne attending.
1. After the hour of the monkey, Mori Akira from the meeting place came to the vigil location and reported that due to the death of Shoshidai Doi Ōi-no-kami, security would not be provided, as announced yesterday at the West Office. Representative Kanemochi had been present from yesterday until today, bringing petitions and inquiry documents and making various appeals, but both magistrate offices announced that without orders from the eastern capital (Edo), they could not dispatch personnel. Accordingly, he also reported to the Imperial Messenger Magistrate and returned home. Regarding how to handle the matter of security, while the head priest and related personnel were consulting, Kanemochi came to the vigil location in the evening and reported that concerning security, his colleague Suenaga had gone to the Imperial Messenger regarding security...
