**巴旦鳥（バタンちょう）**
この鳥は巴旦国（バタン国）の鸚鵡（オウム）である。大巴旦・小巴旦の区別がある。頭部の様子は連雀（レンジャク）に似ており、止まっている時の姿も連雀に似ている。羽の裏側は薄い赤色（淡い丹色）をしている。鳴き声は非常に大きく、とりわけ物真似が上手で、鸚鵡のようである。すなわち、音を呼ぶ（声を発する・言葉を真似る）類の鳥である。

**The Batan Bird (Cockatoo)**
This bird is a parrot from the land of Batan. There are two varieties: the large Batan and the small Batan. Its head resembles that of a Bohemian waxwing (renjaku), and when perched, it similarly resembles the waxwing. The undersides of its wings are a light reddish color (pale vermilion). Its call is extremely loud, and it is particularly skilled at mimicking sounds, much like a parrot. It is indeed a type of bird known for vocal imitation.
