たけのすぐなるまつのみどりこつかのはしまりなかき
はるのひをかめのかうよりとしのかうなるほてい先生の
こうしやくにいくつならこれよりいよ〳〵おとなしく
てならいがくもんにせいだしおやにかう〳〵のこゝろを
おこすまことわらべはしろきいとのごとくそめば
五しきにそめつくしそのいとすじのみだれを
といてあまみにからみをかんしやうが
ばくやかけんものちてによるとかんで【？】

くわういんのこゝろのこまにたづな
ゆるさす一日へんしおこたり
なふなほんによふわしが
いふ事きくけなげな

現代語訳
竹のすぐなる松の緑、骨格の締まりなき長き春の日を、亀の甲より歳の功なる布袋先生の講釈に、いくつなら、これよりいよいよおとなしくて習い学問に精出し、親に孝行の心を起こすまこと。童は白き糸のごとく、染めば五色に染め尽くし、その糸筋の乱れを解いて、甘味に辛味を感賞が博雅、賢者も地によると考えて組める。
馬も馬にはあらぬ、狂院の心の駒に手綱緩まさず、一日変じ怠りなふなほ（なお）本に酔う「私が言うことを聞く健気な子供衆ではある。それさえが点なりや、一生はめでたし」
「もうおしまい、また明日来なされや。必ず悪あがきさしやんなや」
「お暇をするときは手をついて言うものだのう、おじさん」

英語訳
Like the straight bamboo and evergreen pine, with loose character in the long spring days, listening to Master Hotei's lectures (whose wisdom accumulated like the shell of a turtle), from whatever age one begins, one should become increasingly well-behaved, apply oneself diligently to learning, and truly develop a heart of filial piety toward one's parents. Children are like white thread - when dyed, they can be colored in all five colors. Untangling the confusion of those thread strands, appreciating both sweetness and bitterness with broad wisdom, even the wise must be considered according to their foundation when woven together.
Even horses are not merely horses - without loosening the reins on the steed of one's wayward heart, changing daily without negligence, still intoxicated with books: "You are indeed dutiful children who listen to what I say. If you can manage even that much, your whole life will be blessed."

"When taking leave, one should bow and speak properly, uncle."
