## Ono no Komachi's Sōshi-arai Spring · Seimei Water · The Kudari-matsu Pine · Abe no Seimei Shrine · Suika Tenjin · Zuikō-in · Honryū-ji · Sakuraba-no-miya --- **The Sōshi-arai Spring of Ono no Komachi** is located within the garden of a daimyo's residence, to the northeast (the *ushitora* direction) of Modori-bashi Bridge. It is also known as "Seiwasui" (Spring of Purity and Harmony). Beside it stands a memorial pagoda for Ono no Komachi. **The Seimei Water (晴明水)** is also located here. It is said that when Abe no Seimei was performing esoteric rites and prayed for a source of sacred water, water suddenly sprang forth at this very spot. --- **The Kudari-matsu** (The Descending Pine) is also found here. This is the famous "Pine of Ichijō" that has been celebrated since ancient times. --- **Abe no Seimei Shrine** is situated in Seimei-chō, within the Ashiya-chō district to the west of Ichijō. The deity enshrined here is the divine spirit of Abe no Seimei himself. It is traditionally said that this site was once Seimei's own residence. --- **Suika Tenjin** (Water-and-Fire Heavenly Deity Shrine) is located in the Tenjin-no-zushi alley to the north of Horikawa. The deity enshrined here is said to be a divine spirit of water and fire. According to one account, it is also identified as Tenman Tenjin (the deified spirit of Sugawara no Michizane). --- **Zuikō-in** is situated to the north of Ango-in. It was formerly the private residence of Asano Danjō. Its tutelary deity is worshipped as "Asano Inari." Within the temple grounds stands a memorial pagoda dedicated to the lord of Akō Domain in Harima Province, Asano Takumi-no-Kami Naganori, and his retainers. The names of the forty-six loyal retainers (*gishi*), beginning with Ōishi Kuranosuke Yoshio, are inscribed upon it. Among the temple's treasures are a portrait of Kuranosuke, his death poems, and his letters. --- **Eikōzan Honryū-ji Temple** is located to the north of Itsutsuji. It belongs to the Nichiren (Hokke) sect, and was founded by the Venerable Nisshin. The stone pagoda bearing the *daimoku* inscription within the precinct is said to be in the hand of the Venerable Nichizō. Originally, this temple stood to the west of Shijō; it was later moved to Nishijin, and at the time of the construction of the Jurakudai Palace, it was relocated to its present site. --- **Sakuraba-no-miya Shrine** is located to the east of Senbonchō on Demizudōri Avenue. The deity enshrined is Amaterasu Ōmikami. Since the deity is said to have descended from heaven upon the Ukon-no-Baba (the imperial riding grounds), it is also called "Nikō no Shinmei" (The Heavenly Deity of the Descent of Light).
