続斉諧記云
　唐土（もろこし）に張成（ちやうせい）といふ人 或里（あるさと）の婦人（ふじん）家の東南に蚕室（さんしつ）を立るを見て教（をしへ）て云
　正月十五日 白粥（しらかゆ）を供（くう）じ蚕神（さんじん）を奠（まつ）らば蚕の繁栄（はんゑい）常（つね）に百 倍（ばい）すべしと

由来本記によると：
甲子の日に家内を清め、戌亥の方角に蚕神を祭り、桑の枝を二本立て、桑の葉に繭餅（蚕の繭の形に作った米の団子）をのせて供え、神酒を献じて祭るとある。

史天宦書によると：
正月上申の日に東方より風が吹けば、その年の蚕は良いという。

続斉諧記によると：
中国に張成という人がいて、ある里の婦人が家の東南に蚕室を建てるのを見て教えて言った。「正月十五日に白粥を供えて蚕神を祭れば、蚕の繁栄は常に百倍になるだろう」と。婦人が教えの通りにしたところ、果たして利益を得たという。

崔寔によると：
三月清明の節句に家内を掃除してよく清め、四方の穴を塞ぎ、窓を張り、蚕に用いる諸道具を取り出して用意すべきであるとある。

竜魚河図によると：
蚕の糞を家の戌亥の方角に埋めれば、その家の蚕は必ず繁昌するという。

東方朔占書によると：
正月元日に風が吹かず天気が晴れやかであれば、その年の蚕は良いという。

蚕が生まれ出る時の心得について

春になって、その年に先だって孵化させようと思う種を、彼岸中日前後に取り出し、湿気がこもらないようにして、鼠が通らない高い所に吊り置くべきである。これもその土地の寒暖によって早遅の加減があるだろう。種の上下に糸をつけて、一日おきに上下と吊り替えるべきである。その理由は、二階裏などは上下わずかであっても温度の違いがあって、種の上になった所は早く青み、蚕が早く出るからである。とにかく一様になり、蚕も一度にさっと出るように加減すべきである。

According to the Yurai Honki:
On the day of Kinoe-ne (first day of the sexagenary cycle), purify the household and worship the silkworm deity in the northwest direction. Set up two mulberry branches, place cocoon rice cakes (rice dumplings shaped like silkworm cocoons) on mulberry leaves as offerings, and present sacred sake in worship.

According to the Shitenkansho:
If the wind blows from the east on the first Jōshin day of the first month, the silkworms will be good that year.

According to the Zoku Seikai Ki:
In China, there was a man named Zhang Cheng who saw a woman in a village building a silkworm room in the southeast of her house. He taught her, saying: "If you offer white rice porridge and worship the silkworm deity on the 15th day of the first month, the prosperity of silkworms will always increase a hundredfold." When the woman followed his teaching, she indeed obtained profit.

According to Cui Shi:
During the Qingming festival in the third month, one should clean the house thoroughly, block holes in all four directions, paper the windows, and take out and prepare all tools used for sericulture.

According to the Longyu Hetu:
If silkworm droppings are buried in the northwest direction of the house, the silkworms of that household will surely prosper.

According to the Dongfang Shuo Zhanshu:
If there is no wind and the weather is clear on New Year's Day, the silkworms will be good that year.

Precautions for When Silkworms Are Born

When spring arrives, take out the seeds you intend to hatch early that year around the spring equinox, ensure they don't become damp, and hang them in a high place where mice cannot reach. This should also be adjusted for earliness or lateness depending on the cold and warmth of the particular location. Attach strings above and below the seeds and switch their hanging position between top and bottom every other day. The reason is that even in places like attic spaces, though the difference between upper and lower positions is slight, there are temperature variations, and the seeds placed higher will turn blue earlier and silkworms will emerge sooner. In any case, adjustments should be made so that everything becomes uniform and the silkworms all emerge at once.
