[Continuing from the previous page:] He presented [the Lord with] a tantō (short sword) by Bizen Kagamitsu and one by Mihara Shōshin, and the Lord was greatly pleased. Warm and gracious words were conveyed, and a set of kozuka/kōgai/menuki fittings (mitokoromono) bearing the Lord's family crest was personally bestowed upon him.
One item: On the twenty-sixth day of the first month of the fourth year of Bunsei, the Year of the Snake (1821), he was appointed to the position of Aizu Katte (domestic affairs officer for Aizu). The manner in which affairs were to be managed following the bridal procession would continue to be of the utmost importance going forward. Furthermore, unless all official business related to economization measures and other matters extending to the bakufu and other domains was carried through without interruption, it would not serve the [domain's] interests. Accordingly, he was appointed directly to rotating duty (kinban) and, while attending to the aforementioned official duties while in residence, was ordered to remain stationed here and issue instructions on all matters as appropriate.
One item: On the same day, in connection with his appointment as Aizu Katte, it was ordered that he be attached to the First Company as an outside (tozama) samurai.
One item: On the third day of the second month of the same year: The previous day, a summons and notification had been issued by the Inspector (kikiban) from Lord Mizuno Dewanokami. Today, guided by the Inspector, he proceeded to the castle, whereupon Lord Dewanokami appeared in the Hinoki Chamber (Hinoki-no-Ma), attended by the Senior Inspector (Ō-metsuke) Lord Nakagawa Hidanokami, Lord Asobi Kawachinnokami, and the Inspector (metsuke) Lord Kawabe Shirōbee. It was announced that, in recognition of his efforts from the outset in various matters concerning the construction of the coastal fortifications in Sagami Province (Sōshū), he was to be rewarded with gifts. Five garments of formal wear (toki-fuku) were presented to him by the Chamberlain (sōja-ban), Lord Tsuchiya Sagaminokami, and he received them. Upon returning to give his thanks, the Chamberlain Lord Takagi Mondonosho acted as intermediary.
One item: On the twenty-fifth day of the same month, under the direction of the bakufu, the wedding ceremonies were successfully concluded...
