[Continued from previous page:] ...from within Lady Teikanin's personal library (o-bunko), two lengths of men's obi cloth (otoko-obi-ji) were bestowed. One item: In the ninth month of the same year, he served as the chief superintendent (sōji) for Lady Teikanin's burial (shin-sō) and for the memorial Buddhist services (hōji) held after the burial. One item: In the same month, with regard to the memorial services following the burial, and in accordance with instructions from the authorities (kōhen), he offered one piece of silver as a condolence gift (kōden). One item: On the nineteenth day of the same month, having completed his duties, he returned to Aizu. One item: In the tenth month of the same year, for having performed the duties of the relocation (o-hikimochi) and the wedding ceremonies (konrei) without delay, and in recognition of his labors, he was granted a formal jacket (haori) and ten pieces of silver, as officially proclaimed. One item: In the eleventh month of the same year, as personal effects (i-motsu) of Lady Teikanin, there were bestowed upon him: a flower vase (kabin) and flower stand (kadai), two lengths of habutai silk (habutae) from within the personal library, and a hanging scroll (jiku) in the form of a jointly-written work by court nobles (kuge-shū yoriai-gaki). One item: On the twenty-fifth day of the second month of the same fifth year of the Noon cycle [Bunsei 5, 1822], there being official business in Edo, he was unexpectedly ordered to proceed to Edo and was immediately assigned to duty rotation (kinban). He was instructed to depart with all urgency. Setting out that very night, he arrived in Edo on the morning of the last day of the same month. One item: On the twenty-eighth day of the fourth month of the same year, in connection with the formal audience (o-rei) to report the succession of the domain headship (o-katoku), he was summoned in accordance with his family's customary status, and at the Shiroshoin (White Study — a formal audience chamber in Edo Castle), he presented a ceremonial sword (o-tachi), silver in lieu of a horse (gin-umashiro), and two rolls of silk (makimono).
