Up to matters including camp regulations, garrison rules, naval regulations, prohibitions for archers and musketeers, military orders, merit and punishment codes for officers and soldiers, regulations for battle injuries, and protocols for deaths in battle - all these had to be urgently investigated and compiled. Additionally, numerous other urgent military matters were being documented in written form, which was an overwhelming task. Following directions from the senior retainers, daily attendance at the conference hall was required to participate in confidential deliberations, directly expressing one's views and reaching decisions in those sessions. Since all military affairs were being handled through this system, when conference attendance overlapped with other duties, consultations would take place at private residences with Saburōbee, Gensuke, and others, day and night as needed. Thus, all matters were handled swiftly without delay, everything was arranged within a few days, and they awaited orders from the shogunate. 1. In the seventh month of the same year, although it was burdensome amidst the numerous official duties, an order was issued to appoint Kurokawachi Jūdayū to serve concurrently as military studies instructor while maintaining his current position. 1. In the ninth month of the same year, a military parade was ordered at Hongō Plain. From the previous day, unit commanders led their subordinates in establishing camp and carrying out their duties. Note: Since orders for military preparedness had been issued from the sixth month of this year, this parade was ordered as preliminary training for the upcoming mission. The day before, the units marched to Yonezuka riverbank to conduct exercises simulating actual battlefield conditions.
